Quadzilla with stock 47RE?

I am thinking of gettng the Quadzilla module; I am running a stock 47RE (reasonable new, about 12K on it), is there anything I need to do to it? I would run at the "mid" setting (advertised as 35HP, 95 ft-lbf), are there any mods I need to do to the tranny to hold this notably modest increase in HP/TQ, or will it hold up okay? SOMEDAY I'll step up and fork out the do$$ars for a GOOD tranny, but delaying this inevitability is high on my List of Things To Do....

Thx / Rauschbo

I ran a VA 35 HP box for 7 years and 190K miles on a 47RE. Enjoy.

I do mean RAN!

For comparison sake.... I've run an EZ (estimated 65hp, 180 ft-lb) for about 48k miles now (42k on the tranny when I put the box on and 90k on it now) but my tranny is NOT happy with me.

I ran an EZ (65hp) with a set of 275 injectors (40hp) for about 10-12k miles and my tranny didn't have an issue. Put them on at 80k miles as well. I towed in the city with it and beat on it everyday and it never had a problem. If your worried about it, just install a new VB in it and have fun.

If I install a VB, do I need a "performance" set up? Who's a good place to contact about a VB?

Will I need to upgrade the TC?

Call up Stefan at DTT. He'll set you up. When I called him I was gonna buy a new TC also but he told me not to until I build the tranny because I'd be putting to much stress on the front pump and I could trash it. So he set me up with just his VB and it's been working great.

I lost my tc with just a ez, my tranny only had 12k on it. I was hauling my trailer thru the mountains. I would say if you don't tow heavy you should be ok. If you tow buy the valve body and an aftermarket tc. The re-47 tranny is a good tranny, it just needs some help.
