Neil, I was at Imler's on 10/29/05 wasn't the second to last truck an an HO. I can't remember his name, all I know is he owns a diesel shop in the bay area. I think his numbers were 722/1239. He had the second best results next to Big Bad Dodge.

Hey Mad, I'm pretty sure he had an auto trans, that would make it an SO (unless he changed)? Either way it was impressive! NOS works for sure. DId you take any pics? I forgot my camera and I'm trying to get pics of the event. PM me if you can get me some. thanks, -=Neil

Well, I'm at 434/887 now. Still doubt Mach-4's will get me to 500. Maybe 4.5's?

Neil, what boost did you see on the dyno? On my 542 hp run I saw over 40 psi. That was in Vegas at about a 2000 ft elevation. What gear did you use? Making a pull on the Dynojet in 6th gear makes a big difference in spoolup over 5th.

Bart, I'm not sure what I saw for boost on the dyno, but on the street it hits 40 then settles to about 38-39 psi. The truck was in 5th.

Sorry to jump in, but same for my dyno. 5th was no where near as high as sixth was. I guess it didnt work as hard in 5th. Much better results in 6th. As far as the comp and 4's, with the big single I only hit 447 hp and that was in ND so I dont know the elevation. When I put the BD twins on a week later on the dyno I hit 508 with no changes in fueling. My boost on the single went from max of 43, to 65ish with the twins and really woke it up. I cant give you honest answer on the exact boost numbers because my gauge only goes to 60 and I thought I would never go higher than that. I did turn down my boost to 58 cause I didnt ring my head. Not trying to sell you on twins, just showing you the difference. Plus my egt's at 65mph in sixth went down at least 100 degrees if not more. I went to twins because I was going to pull ALOT of weight back and knew the temps were way to high with just the single. Sorry for long post, just showing you my real world experiences considering we have almost the exact trucks.

Looking at your profile I'd say you'll need more than a smarty to get there. You'll also need a fueling box of some sort.

I had a few customers now get to 500 with the combination you speak of. The HRVP44 is part of the reason that can happen.

Don, I have read that the HRVP's aren't worth the cost on an H.O. truck? The numbers gained were like 30hp or so. Do you have any customers with that have gone to a HRVP on there H.O.? Can you tell me what the results are after the switch? Thanks

Actually it is the other way around. The SO trucks wont get a big gain in peak HP with wire tap boxes, but the HO trucks will for sure.

The HO pump is plagued with smaller plungers ( 7mm ) vs the SO pump that has 7.5mm plungers. The HO engine has a volume problem past about 500 HP. A few trucks will go 530 or so though. The SO has the extra volume to outrun the HO in the end.

The HRVP44 has the bigger plungers of the SO pump and some other parts to help it make more HP with no wire tap box.

There are a few HRVP44's that idle like crap and it is certainly a consideration when thinking of buying one. Maybe 30% of the guys who get them have idle troubles.

with the combo in my sig, would an HRVP be worth the extra $600 in terms of horsepower gain, or would it be a better idea to get a stock VP44 and an exhaust upgrade, or put the savings towards a turbo?
TIA for your help!

I recently dyno'd at 475/982 with new injectors from Dyno-Mite Diesel Performance. I was running a Comp but only picked up 64 HP over my run with it off. I have since sent the Comp back for testing and the Drag upgrade. I will be testing again on 2-14, i should see 500+. I'll let you know how it goes.
