pros and cons of TC lockup switch
on a modified tranny...it will be great no tranny slip = no excessive heat...and all the power available to the ground. However our stock trannys cant really handle...thats why they are programed too lock up late in 3rd and OD
On stock autos it is only helpfull in my opinion to aid in tps problems when away on a trip as to get by until I got home and fixed the tps, and to aid a bit in towing down hill in the mountains to lock up and get a bit of help in braking. Other uses can and will cause problems and ruin a stock one. That is why I used one on a auto I used to own. Goodluck,Rick
thanx boys...so basically the next time the tps starts acting up(replaced one last year) then put the switch in and control lockup manually
i thought it might be nice to use as well if i have the gear selextor in 2nd and then i can lock up 2nd cause sometimes im caught in between lockup and no lockup when going in 3rd at low rpms and it gets annoying know what i mean??

Read thru this, your last TPS was probably just dirty and needing adjusting. Goodluck,,Rick https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...&highlight=tps
This is just something that a local tranny builder told me. Please chime in if this is incorrect.
Using a mystery switch is great until you forget to unlock it when you come to a stop. If you do this even a couple of times you may ruin your tranny. The torque applied in the opposite direction is enough to crack the welds on the bosses holding torque converter to the flex plate. (The bosses on the stock TC are very weak apparently) These cracks may only be internal so fluid would not visibly leak but instead they would ruin the clutch as it slides across the rough crack.
It seemed somewhat logical to me but I haven't heard of anyone on DTR complaining of these problems. Just thought I would share so I could get some other opinions on it too.

Is that a stock trans/converter in your sig?? With those mods? How is it holding if so? Mine lasted less than a month after my simple mods.....just curious.
I have the ATS controller, but still use the mystery switch out of the hole because the controller lags alittle because of the quick acceleration.....speed sensor and controller aren't quick enough and you end up with about a 25 mph lockup, even when it's set to 8, and I like to lock up in first outa the hole. I haven't killed it at a stop yet with the new trans, but I have done it on the stock one. Didn't break anything, but definitely kills the engine and makes a sh*tload of bucking and rattling. After one of those, you tend not to forget. Just as insurance, I rigged a relay to the brake pedal in the NC position to disengage the switch and energize a warning buzzer if I forgot. Easy hook-up if anyone's interested.
