Powersteering probs on 2001
Can anyone tell me if the 2001 3/4 tons were prone to having powersteering problems. Also seems to be a quite a bit of play in my steering box. What can I do to fix this. Powersteering whines a bit but not horrible. You can kind of feel it in the steering wheel. Thanks.
hi
the box is adjustable , do the adj at the stearing colom end first then the sector shaft screw 2 nd !
also install a ssi bracket and a 03 up track bar and you will not beleve it is the same truck !!!

My steering was a bit stiff, and had a slight whine. When it got cold a couple weeks ago it got really bad.
Based on a search here, I used a siphon and pulled about 1/2 quart of fluid out of the reservoir, and then filled it back up with Valvoline Syn fluid, and a shot of Lubegard.
The steering instantly felt better, and no more whine warm or cold.

Is there a certain procedure for taking the play out of the steering sector? When you say to adjust the steering colum end first, what kind of adjustment is there and will I ruin anything by getting it too tight? I have adjusted the set screw before but when I tighted it up, it made my steering act way too stiff so I backed it back off and seemed to have gained nothing. The play in the wheel really Pi$$es me off. More help is appreciated. Thanks
