Perf. Air Cleaner

Ok guys, I am trying to make a decision on an aftermarket aircleaner. S&B or AFE have the final decision. Also, if I am not planning on running more than a power puck do I really need one of those air cleaners or should I just go with the BHAF? Thanks, Kurt

Yeah right......we've heard that before....

It will help with spool-up, keep EGT's lower, add a little power and mileage, AEM makes a good one so does AFE...both are reasonably priced...or do a search on BHAF's...you'll get a wealth of knowledge that'll take days to read...

I went the BHAF route, way cheaper and you can't tell me that engine isn't getting air.

But, its hard to say between the two... I'm not a fan of enclosures around my filter unless its a true ram air. I'd probablly go with aFe.

Yeah, I've read up on the BHAF and like the idea of a large volume dry filter. On the other hand, the isolation benefits from running the air box wet filters seems like good thinking. Also, I can get a brand new sterile BHAF at any of the hundreds of Napa's around my travelling routes. I figure around 7 filters would equal the cost of the aFe or S&B units. And I know, once the power puck gets put on I'm gonna get Moditis again! Thanks for the replies. Kurt

Well, I am by no means an expert on this subject. But, I will take a shot at it anyways. I just put the BHAF on my truck with a pretty nice heat shield off ebay and all I can say is WOW! The turbo went from virtual silence to breathing fresh air as it should. It is not loud because I still have my silencer ring in. But, I can tell the engine is breathing much easier. All I have on my rig so far is the BHAF, a #10 cam plate, and my triple-disk torque converter should be here tonight so I can get that in. I have no further plans for another air cleaner. The BHAF works well enough for me!

Mattiebob, that looks great! I can make an aluminim shield like that and I like the dirtminder incorporated into the set up. I have a weekend project. Thanks, Kurt
