Power Mod reccomendations for a Newb to Diesel

Hey everybody My name is Dave and Im about to purchase a 5.9 12v out of a 95 dodge 2500 and im going to put it into an 87 suburban with a nv5600 transmission and and i beleive it is an NP208 Transfer case

I am building this as a family and toy hauler

My plan for the suburban is a 12inch spring lift up front and 12" Air bag Triangulated 4 link in the rear All on 1ton rolling gear and 4.10:1 gears
and 44 inch Michelin Military take off tires

I have about $2500 to spend on power upgrades and I was wondering if i would be better off buying the Banks power pack system http://bankspower.com/products/show/138/31

OR if there is a better more efficent way to get more power for that kind of budget,

All comments and suggestions would be appreciated,

Thanks,
LD

Don't waste your money on Banks. Do a search and find how to do a govenor spring kit, grind your fuel plate, tune your afc housing, and with $2500 you could get a decent turbo and injectors. If you don't already have an upgraded clutch, you will need to get one. You can pick up a used 62/65/12 or 14 turbo and get injectors made for around $550

Before you do anything you want to get a boost and EGT gauge installed.

OK I have proably spent close to 18 hours the past couple days reading about upgrades and such to do and what order to do so in

So i beleive i have came up with a good list and i would like yalls reccomendations on it and what order to do so in

My goal is about 425-450hp and around 1000ftlbs

Round 1

Glowshift
60psi boost gauge
2400 EGT Gauge
Transmission Temp Gauge
KDP Kit
#10 Fuel Plate 3/4 of the way forward
Adjust ACM
4k GSK
Bump the timing about 16*
custom 5 inch turbo back exhaust consiting of a MBRP Muffler and Resonnater

Round 2
370hp injectors
Banks twin ram intake manifold
Ceramic coated Equal length tube header
16cm nonwastegated turbo housing

SBC Dual Disk Street Clutch and Flywheel
SBC Upgraded Input Shaft
(trying to decide between NV4500 or NV5600 transmission)
Transmission Cooler

Should I also do a set of Head studs at this point?
If so what Size

I am planning on running twin electric fans for the radiator hopefully pull more air acrros them and reileve some drag from the engine

Also Im looking into an exhaust brake and i was wondering which one is better the Pac Brake or BD

How much power do you think this will net me is it around where I guessed?

And proably about 85%of this will all be done before I put the engine in my suburban.

Thanks
LD

370s are a dirty injector and create alot of heat . i would look into a nice set of ddp injectors . and a hx35 with a 16cm housing will not support the power you are looking for if you plan on towing . i would ether get a somthing like a 62/12 or a he351 of a 05 cummins

Agreed, forget the equal length header and banks twin ram intake, WASTE OF MONEY! get a three piece exhaust manifold a good S300 turbo some SDX injectors and head studs. that's where the performance money should be spent. And you could probably argue against the 3 piece manifold if you wanted to. The rest of the list looked good.

OK so I think im going to go with the SDX III injectors and a S300 62/65/12 supports up to 425hp or should i go ahead and go with the 64/65/12 that supports 550hp

You've started down a slippery slope. Power is addictive. If you go with the S300 at 425, you will want more eventually

Good luck,

go with the 62/13 and start building the truck to handle twins cause at one point you are going to want to go that route since you tow with it and spool up and smoke will be better with twins . you could hang a s400 under that stock turbo and be able to support the power you are looking for to
