Question A-pillar Guages

I'm looking for advice on pillar gauges. I'm getting confused by all the different gauges and pods available. Is there a quality kit one could buy that includes everything you need for a pre turbo installation?

Also, where is the best place to install the trans temp probe without brazing on a bushing, or is that the best way to go. I'm not lazy, I just cringe at the though of butt brazing as they can stap off with vibration and age or can you weld them on?

I'm so confused!

Call Chace at West Texas Turbo Diesel, he has complete 3 guage pillars with the guages ( Isspro) for 300.00. Put a set in my Dad's CTD- looks great. Go to Chrysler and order tranny line part no 05011244AA it has a place to install a temp sender and it is a direct bolt in for one of your tranny lines.

Try looking at Link You can also buy a tranny pan that has the port for the tranny temp, but they are expensive.

EGT and Fuel pressure seem to be the most important gauges to me.

I've been looking for gauges too, and find it confusing as well. Isspro looks like a pretty good gauge company, but then again it's all personal prefence. Good luck.

Wildcat Diesel Performance carries high quality components at very reasonable prices, and has excellent customer service to boot.
They are also a long time site sponsor along with all the other banner advertisers here whose advertising bucks help keep this site both online, and free for all of us.

Not sure if this helps but here are my guages. I too go them from WTTD and couldn't have asked for better service. This is the A-pillar and it is held on with one screw. You can't see my screw unless you look from the side. Chace at WTTD even went as far as to paint the A-Pillar and screw for me. He's got a pretty good deal. I would recommend checking out www.westtexasturbodiesel.com or giving Chace a call. His number is on the website.

Also, a thread is like a topic on a forum. Welcome to the site.

Thanks for the input, I like them all! I really like the dual digitals. You can get 2 functions in one gauge and the have a max memory button and a remote warning light.

Thanks again. I still cannot get over the amount of great information you can get here on everything. WOW!

If you like the digital guages, it may be worth looking at the X-Monitor. While its not for me, it may be right up your alley....

Have a look:

Alternatively, you can get one of the fuel boxes (PowerMax 3 or BlueChip FMS) with integrated guages and sell your current box:

Cummisdude,

How is the fit and finish of the column pod? I've heard some are pretty bad. Yours looks good, but how does it fit and does it rattle or squeek??

Gauge kits

We have complete kits with pillar mounts that we paint to match factory colors and complete instructions for installation. Our Di-Pricol gauges are available in pyro, boost, trans temp and fuel pressure. If you have a 98.5-2002 truck, you should consider fuel pressure as one of your gauges to monitor lift pump performance.
