Do you guys with the A-pillar mounts find that it affects visibility a bunch? These trucks have huge A-pillars anyway, and what I'm thinking is that with those gauges up there you'd have a blind spot the size of Montana, making intersections awfully dangerous.

I find that it does block some of your view, but you can get used to it after awhile. I also have the smoked window visor, so yea, I have a huge blind spot. But like I said once you get used to it works fine.

JF:

You are right, the A-pillar does block visibility - I almost ran over a guy on a bicycle a couple of weekends ago pulling out of a business onto the service road - he gave me the one finger salute - I pulled over and told him I was sorry but could not see him. I think he was expecting to see something else and was surprised.

I have the A-pillar guages and they do not block visibility any more than the A-pillar itself.

I'm just not so sure I like the pillar thing. I'm gonna wait and sit a truck with them in it before I order it. Now I'm looking at the ashtray area for a multi function gage set up. I don't smoke so its wasted space, and I like the fact you can close it and "clean" up the dash area to stock. I dunno sometimes I way over think things too.

You also don't want your gauges where you have to look away from the road too much to read them.

I agree.

If you have to look way down there, that will be more likely to cause an accident then a blindspot the pillar creates.

I found a pod that fits over the steering column and does not interfer with the speedo and tach. I'm looking hard at it.

Good idea about the ash tray, you must have seen my driving! I'm the guy drinking coffee, talking on the phone and working the lap top on the console at the same time.

Is this the same thing as the steering bezzel I have? The pic is on the first page.

I like the Autometer Z series, they are close to the OEM gauges.
I added a fourth pod in the lower left for my FP gauge.

How is the fit and finish of the column pod? I've heard some are pretty bad. Yours looks good, but how does it fit and does it rattle or squeek??
Resurrecting this old thread to get an answer to the above question. How does the AutoMeter pillar mount? I don't want to screw the new gauge pod pillar into the stock pillar. Thanks.

I know this isn't about an a-pillar, but I'm sold on the "Rod's Pods" from Wildcat... When sitting in a truck, any truck, the nearest to my natural line of sight is a dash pod.. The Rod's pod sits a little lower, and the integrated look is slick as heck! Hope I don't screw up my bezel though.. I'm handy with a welder & plasma cutter, but not so much with a dremel.

Plus, my gasser turbo buddies can look over and when they see what a REAL boost figure is all about!

I like the Rods Pods, I am going to put mine right above the speedo and tach though, because I just see hood in that area anyways at my height. The A-pillars look really cool though, just not practicle for me as I am having a hard time getting used to the size of the stock a pillar.

Also, I really like the look of them white faced Phantom Gauges, but if i get them I want the rest of my gauges to match, there are lots of places out there that sell them but they are different in two ways all the time.

1. They are for gassers, where the tack reads up to 6000 rpm, instead of 4.

2. The speedo has miles on top, instead of having km (canadian miles) on top like mine.

Anybody know a gauge face company that has gauges that will fit my criteria?

OK, well let's just say that I don't like the Rods Pods. How does the pillar pod mount to the existing trim piece, and does it squeak at all? I don't want to go drilling into my stock trim piece.
