so even when you aren't towing you plan to run with them up? as annoying as it is to manually adjust them (and trust me... it sucks unless you have someone to help you...) it is just not worth it to me to run with them up even unloaded. For one thing, they really do stick out there. and IMHO they look just plain gay (can I say that?) when not towing.

Yep, they do look gay when you are not towing...
I see people do it all the time, if you want the advantage of of sight to the sides the lil blind spot stick on mirrors work WONDERS!

I hear ya!

I have fish eyes as they call em on both of my mirrors, i can see curbs and not back into them and i can even see the trailer wheels up to 24 foot trailers. Ive even towed a 32 foot gooseneck and with fish eyes i had no issues.... I actually dont like the thrid gen towing mirrors stickin out all the time, ive seen guys here in LDO that have them out all the time for two horse trailers and even 16 foot tags... I can understand them for goosenecks or trailers 24 foot plus in legnth, but not anything less than that....

Well I like the look, and no I'm not gay! I also think it makes a difference on a short bed v. a long bed. The long beds just seem more set up to tow based on the look. But i'd love to have a short bed for parking purposes!

So, up on a long bed look better or not? does it matter?

I personally don't like them up on either a short bed or long bed unless you are towing with them. Those things stick out so far and I think they look kinda goofy!! Awesome mirrors though for towing, I'd love to have a set on mine but with power instead of being manual..........that be a pain in the butt!!

But anywhoo, no I don't think it makes that big of a difference in looks from a short bed to a long bed.

I don't think it makes a difference if it's a short bed or a long bed. I've driven with mine up before but I prefer them down. Either way, they certainly look a heck of a lot better than those "mickey mouse" non-towing mirrors.
