performance brake pads

I'm buying tires, shocks and stuff.....
Pulled the wheels today and i'll be doing brake pads also. You know, winter driving tactics: Drive fast, brake hard!!

Can anyone recommend any aftermarket, performance pads?

Hawk Performance pads from http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/hawk/index.jsp are the best you can buy and don't cost a fortune. Hawk is the world leader in pads for heavy equipment and trucks and just happen to make a size for our Rams.
Their pads' hardness is a perfect match for our rotors, not too hard to wear the rotor, not too soft for short life and dust.
If they don't list pads for your truck on the net call, they most likely just aren't listed. Any of the three grades they offer except the ceramic are great but the two higher grade pads may squeak.
I use the HPS on every brake job I do as recommended by a 40 years in the brake business and fellow CTD owner I know.

I'm with Bill....I did the Hawks last year and so far they've outlasted every other ceramic and carbon/metallic pads by at least 5K and still going....

Hey Bill, what's Sam Peterson @ Rapid Brake sell?? That's what I recommend. 45K on the front pads, and still going, but almost done for. BTW, that's good for me. I got 23K on my last set before these, and they chewed up my rotors so bad that I had to buy all new parts!!

BTW, what's the best place to get new drums for the rear of a 3500??

Thanks,
Chris

Hawk is what Sam sold and recommended. Sam is retired now but still owns Rapid Brake, last time I ordered from them I got the impression they were no longer intrested in shipping parts out, shop work was a enough to keep them busy. Sam first started selling Hawk pads as a service to CTD owners since they used to be hard to come by.
I think another source for them might be Geno's.

For drums I usually use Napa.

Saxet, like I said, if they don't list your truck call them, they most likely have them.

That is because they are eating your rotors. There is a reason they are "life time warranty" they wear your rotors down to nothing before the pads wear out. Not a good plan.

Been there done that.
