Re:PE 4200 PUMP??
Danlit,
The problems people are having with these pumps is that they are not setting the fuel system correctly. I have had a PE4200 for over 20,000 miles. I also have a 1/2" stanpipe in the top of the tank supplying it, and I have not had any problems with it. But I am switching to a gravity feed mount on the bottom of the tank this weekend. The PE pumps do not like to pull or suck fuel, they prefer to push. Most of the pumps do not have enough fuel supplied to them to keep them cool and they either sieze the rotor, or break the shaft in them.
So these pumps will last if you set up the system correctly, and do not run them dry, they need fuel just like your VP44 needs fuel to stay cool and keep it lubricated.

Re:PE 4200 PUMP??
Are the fuel lines all cut to fit with the right fittings and everything on them? I'm getting kind tired of this Holley Black (stupid by pass plunger keeps getting stuck) and I know the PE pumps are wicked pumps. Especially for the modified crowd. Was this an extra pump you just had lying around or was it on the truck? If it was on the truck, why did you take it off?
