I would have had mine going by now but the machine shop that was maching my block let it go with huge pits in the cylinder walls, gouged crank, rusted parts, etc. It was in pretty bad shape. At this point I'm more interested in selling the whole Cummins project and just buying another stock Powerstroke. The Diesel Gods must hate me.

Talking 98 24v p-pumped

I have about 3000mi on my do it myself conversion, and I love it. Yes, it still has a few bugs, but I think they are more to do with dodge than the conversion I did. I have mush better usable power, Lots of torque, and it runs so much better. I did grind the cam plate to a 100 b4 install. I set the timimg at 17.5* and junked the airbox for a custom unit that is open all the way around. The turbo was already deringed. Now I have to save my $ so I can upgrade to a SB DD clutch, then I can start to get into injectors and DV's and a 4kGSK . Until then I guess I will just have to take it light on the pedal and enjoy the beast as is, it sure is fun to drive and I love the way it runs out.

Any more info out there on this? Any updates on those who have done it? I'm getting curious and bored. How are the p-pumped 24v's holding up to and driving with 600+?

Another person I know that did the P-Pump Conversion on a 24 valve engine is Mike Wood (General Manager) at Scheid Diesel, Effingham, Ill. He has a daily driver that is at or above 600 HP and he seems happy with his. You can give him a call @ 1-800-669-1934 for more info if you need it. He is a great guy and can give you some insight on his.

Thanks John. As much as I would love to be at 600+ I will not sacrifice the driveability of the truck.

600 is easy on a VP truck, and it can be very driveable as well. Recipe for you would be:

H2 cam
Good twins (using your PS turbo)
Mach 6 injectors

Heck you could even do 600 without the cam no problem its just that the cam makes for a nicer driving truck!

Oh I know Doug. But at the rate I'm going, the more I add the lower the power I go.

I hate being like everyone else. I'm thinking my injection pump is getting weak but I ain't gonna replace it until it dies.

Thanks for your update report buddy! Glad to hear the P-Pump is working good for you! IMO, the darn things are TOUGH and RELIABLE and so far above a VP-44 pump it isn't even funny!

You and my friend Mike Wood @ Scheid Diesel have the best luck with the conversion from the VP-44 to P-Pump much more so than Doug Smith or my friend Larry Crawford did. I am happy for you.

BTW,........NICE AVATAR!!!

What had to be done to hook up the fuel shutoff solenoid? I have been researching the conversion to a P pump but my vp44 just took a dump. So I have gone to a research for the future conversion, to a do it now conversion.

Thumbs up p-pumped 01/07 update

Still running strong, no major problems to report. I am very happy with the conversion and would recommend that everyone that has had a vp die, at least look into getting rid of the vp and upgrade to the P-7100. 7 months and still running great.

pohmmwv, I wired in 2 12vdc relays, one to open the valve and one to hold it open. I got the relays from Radio Shack. 30amp/12vdc. it was really no big deal.
