Overhead MPG calc accuracy with Edge
Does anyone know if the overhead mile per gallon calculations get thrown off when adding boxes, like my Juice for instance? I know I need to hand calculate it to be sure, but I got 19.1 mpg going to OKC Friday night then reset it and got 19.0 coming home on the 67 mile trip. I set the cruise on 70 mph. That is the best this truck has ever got at 70 mph. I'm just curious now if the motor is burning more fuel than it thinks it is or if the overhead still has the ability to correctly monitor such activities. Now, the only other thing that was different from the norm was the fact that I had a tank of red diesel in it. Now, before you get all wound up, I only emptied my aux tank into the truck was because I had to get the fuel out to move it over 6 inches. I needed to move it over so I could cut the hole for my STACK! I filled the tractor and two five gallon buckets up too. I doubt the red fuel did anything for the milage, but it was a variable in the equation. O, and I also raced a Ford 250 Saturday night and left him in the dust. I got real pleasure from that!!!
Anyone?

Those MPG gizmo's can be really accurate and then can be totally whacked!! I can never rely on the one in my truck.....it's off by a mile but that is in account for my big tires. Wouldn't suprise me though if you were getting up in that range. It's amazing what going 65 or 70 mph will do for you gas mileage as apposed to 75mph.

I have already had the dealer recal my speedo for my 285's, I got them down to $35 to do it, those crooks. I just wondered if any one knew where the calculator gets its info from and whether it is upstream or downstream from the mods done by the fueling boxes and what not. I guess these devices are just mystery machines and the techology behind them is magic smoke.

Yeah, the overhead MPG display gets thrown for a loop by boxes and injectors. I showed an instantaneous 26 MPG at one point behind a semi on flat ground coming back from Tennessee last month with the 5th wheel in tow - slightly optimistic. It impressed my wife, though!
