30 mpg (not hand calc) in magazine
30 mpg (not hand calc) in magazine
anybody seen the story on the cummins in canada that gets 30mpg
at 70-75mph??? all the story said was about his mods and shown a pic of his lie-o-meter at 26, never told about hand calc, surley these guys at the magiznes know
that the lie-o-meter goes up with mods... mine reads 30-33 and hand calc it is 21-24... the only way i can get 30mpg(per gal #2) is buy adding wvo and not counting it...

I read an article like that a while back. Once I took a close look the guy was injecting natural gas or propane in huge amounts. I don't think these things can do better than 24-25MPG. Also keep in mind the Canuck gallon is about 13% more than a US gallon. Maybe someone is doing math wrong.
I saw it. he claimed 34 mpg and had a 4 page spread, AND the top part of the cover
. I have what he has, Minus the CAT, and i have stage 2 DDP's worth 2mpg, A Helix2, FASS, Intercooler, and a grid delete, and I get 26 at best hand calc. I think that guy was a little ignorant to the reality of things.... On that note, All of his mods were installed by NADP. I think i would have got a FOR SURE hand calc before i made ridiculous claims to a magazine.

I laughed my edit off when I read that too, .....complete edit, bigger tires, 70mph cruise, better than 34 MPG (remember our gallons are a bit bigger) but still....please.
Blatant ad for NADP.....bottom of article....sourse...NADP

I think one of the powerstroke guys back in the day did a ton of fuel mileage, and claimed somewhere in the 27 MPG range. However, at some point, with all the mods he had done to the truck, it really stopped being a useful pickup....
Depends a lot on the road, i don't see anyone getting 30+ mpg at 70-75mph, but i've squeezed out 30.2 mpg(hand calc-876 miles with 29 gal at fill up) on a FLAT FLAT 4lane down here where the speed limit is 55 back when i had an intake, exhaust, and a PMT. The overhead was saying 38mpg. At 70-75 that kind of milage is out of reach i'd say though
at 70mph with my 35" tires I run at 1800 rpm and get about 20mpg. He said he had 285s on it, I think his rpm would be over 2000rpm which then the truck will use more fuel. I know mine does, If I go about 2100 rpm my mileage goes way down (16-17mpg range)
quadzilla mpg module(lie o meter went up) into the low 30s
fitch fuel catylist
free flow muffler
afe bladerunner intake
+50hp nozzles(lie o meter went down) back down to high 20s
i once got 26.6 for a day of driveing, man i had to baby it all day, never over 50-55 mph and upshift at about 1600rpm. i would let it lug down to 1000rpm and pull away when i could. noway 30+ at 70mph with his mods. if i blend wvo to my #2 and only count the #2 gallons i buy then i can get 30mpg per gal #2, but that is the only way. i think lock out hubs, and a gearvendors overdrive would help , but that is a lot of money.i have 285s now , when they wear out i am going to 275s for the weight saveings, maby help with mpg...
I saw that article too, and was pretty skeptical. The guy had done a ton of mods, but 34mpg is crazy.
I'm no mechanic, but one of that guys "mods" was running a much lighter oil in his motor and I don't think I'd be comfortable sacrificing engine protection for a small gain in mileage.
I paid more serious attention to the article in the same magazine on the mods to a 2007 mega cab with a 5.9 (AFE air, Bladerunner and exhaust and BullyDog E3). That sounded reasonable and I have the same vehicle and haven't decided on mods yet.
