Unhappy oem air intake

Seems like the more I look the more confused i get. Was told today that you can put a k&n filter in a stock intake and drill some 1" holes in bottom of intake and it will work as good as amy after market performance syste. i dont believe everything I hear but sounds interesting. The guy pulls his truck and is successful....any opinions? Thanks

Some will disagree BUT a K&N is definitely NOT the best option on a Cummins. They let in WAY too much dirt.

As for drilling the holes in the airbox, yeah you can do it and get a bit more airflow but the fact is, the airbox doesnt seal well at all and this isnt a good option either.

A much better option is a paper BHAF with an outerwares racing prefilter or SCOTTY 2, or an AFE stage 1 or 2 intake with the Proguard 7 filter, all of the above get rid of the crappy stock airbox.

Not my setup.....its Phoxes.

But you can get them at: http://www.outerwearsracing.com/

Give them the BHAF part number and color you want and they will ship directly cutting out the middleman.

Thanks, Doc for saving me the time. I spend a lot of time warning against K&N.

Take a looksee here http://www.unifilter.com/automotive.htm

UAP-908 4" 6 1/2" 5 1/4" 11" $49.95

I run this in my truck. UNI is a great filter company. Well known in the motocross/dirtbike, atv, offroad racing crowd. Oil Foam filter.

If you do a site search you will find the heat sheild template.
And you will also get the BHAF part #'s as well as the pre filter #'s

If I would have known my setup would be referenced so many times,
I would have cleaned up a little before I took the pic.

If UNI is good enough for Scotty, nuff said.

I'll stick with my goofproof paper filter, at least for a while.
