Its called "barking the turbo". Its a stall of the shaft while its shifting.

I believe that's the turbo bark. When the engine is creating a lot of boost, and suddenly the demand for that much air to the engine isn't needed, the air - instead of being pushed into the engine - actually "backflows" into the turbo for a moment. The woosh sound is just air hitting the turbo from the "wrong" side.
Most will say this is somewhat normal and won't cause any harm. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

It can also snap the turbo shaft.

I am kinda ignorent to this issue, but is the turbo bark sound kind of like hearing something like a bad sound like something grinding, my truck here recently I went round a corner and matted her and didn't have a lot of room so had to let off quickly( I now know better than to do that from what you guys are saying it is very bad on the turbo ) and the turbo made a nasty weird sound like the wheel was hitting the side or something but I have checked my slop in the shaft and it can't hit the side just very litttle slop, any help would help thanks

My turbo barks whenever I let off the throttle suddenly. I wouldnt suggest drivin around town or wherever and purposely doin it all the time just for the sound. If it just happens very now and then you will be fine. If its an ongoing thing constantly happening it could do damage. Mine has never barked while the trans shifts into overdrive tho....

yeah i am guessing that mine is just turbo bark I was scared it was about to go south, but i can get it to do it when I hit it hard and then let off quick, but if I keep into it at bout 30psi it doesn't do it so that makes me feel a little better......cool I hope

yeah I have the j-hook on the turbo, but when i put it in, it didn't make a whole lot of change think I strecthed the spring out when installing it, so I just grabbed my stiffest dirtbike pipe spring and threw that on there too.
