Is this normal or not?
Hello guys
MERRY CHRISTMAS! to everyone on here. I wish everyone the very best. I recently put in a 4K kit in the truck (minus valve springs, I will get those and the retainers as well and do them all later) I installed my kit and since i have tightened my governer springs, I had a really low idle at first so i tightened them up, got it to about 500-600 or, so then bumped up the idle on the screw till about 700 or so, with ac on and in gear, I have noticed that my truck now starts at 1/2 a turn of the key after the GRID HEATERS
fire, no pedal assistance no nothing, almost like a match turnin on, just instantly, ever since i put my 4K on there, Is this normal? or did i mess up somewhere?
Truck runs much different now as expected, and i literally have to watch the tach much closer now, cause it will get to 3K RPMS very rapidly, and it will hit 4K easily as well...
Any ideas anyone?
Tx
EDITED: thanks for pointing out my truck has grid heaters... i should have remembered

Just a FYI....
Both of my dodges do not have glow plugs...they have grid heaters.
I have seen some trucks fire as soon as you bump the key and some have to turn over a little. I dont think that you have anything to worry about, but maybe someone with more experience will chime in.
Merry Christmas

Mine fires like that even in 0 degree weather. there is nothting but a 100 plate done to it and thats the way it was before the 100 plate too. Sounds like there was a problem before, and you actually fixed it.

What you describe is normal for a 12v in good tune and no fuel hose or return valve issues. Others have reported better starting after setting idle to spec, as you did. Mine starts on the first revolution.
on my truck it will not fire right away if i turn the key to the on position with the fuel box on... i have to turn it off to start the truck adn when i do that it starts as soon as bump the key to the start position... if i leave it on.. it will crank after a few revolutions and then will stall and cause black flakes to spew out of my exhuast.......which sucks becuase if they hit anything wet they will cuase like a black mark on the truck that will be hard as heck to get out with regualar car wash fluid
Hmm
not to bump this to top or anything, but my truck just temporarily died at the grocery store, after tightening up the battery terminals and checkin the shutdown soleniod, my truck started the way it used to once again, two cranks and it fired without any throttle. Seems to me it could be related to some sort of connection and so forth. I lifted my soleniod with the key up and it would not stick, simple assumption, ok there is not enough battery juice, so after meessin with the terminals and watchin the battery lights get brighter, i saw that the truck would fire up, i gave it throttle to make sure it did, and sure enough it fired up..
I have not messed with the truck as of yet, but i just thought id let u guys know that it seems to have gone back to normal, any ideas as to why?
Im gonna check my cables again and so forth and try and start it again right now...
Ill report back later
