New track bar options?
New track bar options?
I need to get a new track bar on my 98. I have no interest in spending 500+ dollars for the track bar and conversion kit if it is not necessary.
I have read that the moog track bars will work just fine on my truck, BUT, do I also need to buy a conversion bracket that companies like Carli, Kore, Thuren say is necessary? or will a moog work just fine and not go out on my like the previous 2 I have put on.
The truck has a leveling kit on it and 315/75/16 tires.

Unless your truck is lifted and you need an adjustable there is no reason at all to spend big money.
One of these will give you several hundred thousand miles with no problem> www.lukeslink.com

If you have a leveling kit, it is lifted. Get a thuren or some other kind of adjustable track bar. Otherwise the axle will no be centered correctly, and sooner or later, the death wobble bug will get you.
Darn, really didn't want to have to spend that much. I looked on thurens website and it appears that I don't need a conversion bracket, so that will make it cheaper.
Weird thing is, I have put 175k on that truck with the leveling kit and 315's and have never had the so called death wobble and I know my axle isn't centered correctly.

Same here, but IMO you're better off fixing it before it happens. Parts wear out very quickly once death wobble occurs. Also, I can almost guarantee you'll feel a big difference as soon as you install a good one. Here's a link to my thread when I put one on my dad's 99.

I have the Thuren w/o the third gen conversion. Its bullet proof and reasonably priced, at least it was back when I got mine.
Another good reason is you call their number and Don Thuren answers the phone. He knows his stuff and is very helpful.

Thanks for all of the input. I think I am going to go with the Thuren track bar (it doesn't need a conversion bracket, correct?), and at the same time go ahead and get the Carli performance 2.0 package for the 2010. Today is a cheap day
I got a 3rd gen thuren with a converter bracket in place of the frame mount. Real good so far but the whole deal was expensive like you say.
The lukes link is good stuff, but youll need something longer for the lift. There are cheaper ones with adjustable links.. or if youre handy you could weld something up.
