new sticks.soaked with diesel????

Just got my injectors in the mail, THey are in the Bosch box and the part numbers are good but they appear to have diesel on them in the plastic bags and no protective tips on the nozzles. Is this normal?

If you got them from a major vendor they should have red covers on the tips! I've always known new injectors to have some kind of lube or protective oil but i've never encountered diesel fuel! I'd call and ask just to be on the safe side!

The shop I had build my injectors pop tests them using diesel so I don't think that should be all that unusual. Also, the injectors you got are probably a new tip assembled on an exchanged body. If you bought them from a shop I don't think I would be that concerned. I've never tried to clean all the grime off a used injector tip but I think it would be fairly obvious if they were used. Eric

Pop testing and controlling the spray pattern is usually done with diesel. They do not clean the diesel from the injectors to avoid corrosion.

No protective tips is still a little odd to me... Have recieved three sets of injectors from 3 different vendors all had the same red protective tip...
