Truck Floor SOAKED and Musty Smell
Truck Floor SOAKED and Musty Smell
My truck has this nasty musty smell from the passenger side and the floor under the carpet is absolutely soaked. I have not used the AC yet this year and the heater core is good.

Try looking at you back window or the brake light up in top of the back glass. Both of mine leaked at one time. Tighten the brake light up a little and put a bead of sylcone *sp around both.
DM01
Re:Truck Floor SOAKED and Musty Smell
Unless you have done some creative plumbing, it has to be coolant. If it is not the heater core, then a hose connection to it, a hose itself near the connection point..something of that sort; as far as I have ever seen, that is the only liquid entering the truck cab (other than your coffe cup or soda water bottles). Remember that the A/C uses gases that are only in liquid state while under pressure, so it is not going to be refrigerant - that only leaves coolant.
Re:Truck Floor SOAKED and Musty Smell
By the way if you floor is wet you might want to take a look at the floor pan under the carpet. Mie was really rusty so I gutted the inside of my truck and sanded and painted it. Take a look at the back glass or roof brake light. That is where the water came from mine.
DM01

I hadn't thought of the condensation problem, Jamie, thanks for the update - I'll have to remember that. Learn somthing new every day.. that is what I like about this site.

I had something similar to that. Just not that bad. Came from the bottom right of the cup holder this morning. Went on a 3 hour round trip yest. with AC set on MAX. Started the truck up this morning, and there is a nice little stream of water coming out. It's not coolant. It is water. Where is the weephole for the AC condenser? Maybe I should just take a look at it and see if it might be clogged.

I recently had the same problem but I had been runnung my a/c. All I did was added a 6" hose to the end of the drain and that took care of it. What was happening was when it was trying to drain it would flow down the underside of the drain back to the passenger side floorboard.

Ruben
OK, two questions...
1) How can you tell if the cargo/brake light is the source of the leak?
2) How can you unclog the AC drain tube if that's the problem? I have no ShopVac.
Thanks all.

The gasket itself looked really bad as well.
