new injectors

I want another 75 hp in my truck for towing,but I don`t want to have to watch the pyro. I tow a fiver at 10.500 lbs gvw .so I`am think another 75 hp would wake this truck up. I just need to know where to buy a good injector (supplier) and some idea as to cost. what brand are better for towing and run clean . Thanks Don

I like the DDP 75hp injectors. Theyre a micro sac 5x.012 148* nozzle, I think. Theyre a bit easier on idle smoke than most in that size.
SDX does some decent injectors as well.

I have the Bosch 275 rv/marine injectors in mine. They are worth an extra 40-50 HP or so and help the low end quite a bit. Cost ya around 300USD for brand new injectors. Just an option....

If they are the DDP 5*12s they are marine injectors.

I'd run SDX or equivelant injectors and stay away from DDP.

so my truck must have 160 hp injectors and I could find a set from a 215 horse truck. What would that gain me ??? That might be all I will have to do for a little extra. Thanks Don

As nascar indicated 25-30hp / 55-70ftlbs...But also you will really see a difference in throttle response,little quicker of the line...Way I mention the 215,is a few guys have gone with bigger injectors and have the old ones sitting around...You may get a set for a very good price or maybe a box of beer.....Or if you know someone that has a set that you could borrow,just to try them out, would be great also.. ...

With my auto trans being the weak link for my truck I have no plans for big injectors. But the injectors out of a 215 your saying would be a boost from the 160 I have now.I can tell with the 10 plate and a better injector installed I might be happy . my truck pulls my 10500 gvw fiver now so much better than when it was stock that I know small output injectors could give me what I want. I will take my truck to the City (Halifax ) to have the valves checked and the timing set up in the spring and it would be great to have a set of 215 injectors installed by a pro. Thanks for the info ! Later Don

I should place a want add somewhere for a good set or get new.

Yes...It's really your call Don......I did the small steps also...First I set my timing to 15.5 degree..I also installed a 10 plate...Then I went with the 215 injectors...All of these made a big improvement..Also moved the AFC and fuel plate full forward...And a 3K spring kit would really help...Very small mods that will help in towing...I can't remember...but you have boost and EGT gauges??

The PO that had my truck said when he had the timing set ahead the engine made so much noise he set it back to where it was quieter lol.
I have no ideas what it is set at.My 10 plate was set in the stock position about half way so I have room to move that forward . The 3000 G spring was a big change for sure towing .I just got a 3 gauge pillar post for my gauges , the two I had installed the boost and trans temp with the pyro mounted down low on the dash. I can now move that gauge up where I will be able to see it at a glance.We will be taking a trip across Canada in two years and I`am getting this 12 v set up for that trip. we will take three months to just poke around and the the USA the next year. I see 38 lbs boost now and have a problem with boost pressure if I let off the fuel fast. I`am looking at a way to dump boost if it climes over 38 lbs.I see one on line that fits in before the intake horn and it is adjustable to what I want and will dump that boost. I hate that noise and the damage to my turbo I know it will cause if left like it is. I will be looking for an engine brake to install ,but I have time to get that before or trip date. I`am looking for the mod for 4x4 low now and have that this spring. I can see that as a big help to keep trans temps down. later Don

I hit pay dirt here ! this explains what I have to order and now can get them ordered . New sticks

Injector Chart

stock 2nd gen inj - vary depending on model but all are 145° injectors

49 state 160 hp - 5x9 .000318

49 state 175 hp 5x9 .000318

180 hp 5x9.5 .000354

160 hp cpl 1863, (actually a 180) 5x9.5 .000354

all calif trucks '96-98 were 180 hp = 5x9.5 .000354

215 hp - 5x10.25 .01025 .000412

300's and 330's same size - 4x12 = .000452

370's - 5x12 = .000565 155° spray pattern

435's - 5x014 = .000769 avail in both 155 and 145° spray pattern

ddp stg III (90 hp) = 50 LPM (liter per minute) 155° 5 hole extrude hone inj <5x12 270 bar

ddp stg IV (140 hp) = 66 lpm - 5 holes smaller than .0135 270 bar

ddp stg 4plus - no longer avail now considered comp waiver must be signed to obtain

ddp comp = 73-90 lpm depending on application same for pop

all four start out as 155° marine nozzles and are extrude honed

the flow numbers (lpm) i posted is what was printed on boxes that i received from ddp

there are posts on other forums that vary slightly with these numbers

measured the holes myself (.0135 gage would not go in a stg 4 ect)

have not used 50 or 75 hp ddp inj - have no idea what size the holes are

custom injectors -

5x.012 = .000565

5x13 = .000663

5x14 = .000769

7x10 = .000549 (24v conv inj are usually 7 hole)

7x12 = .000794

6x13 = .000795

5x15 = .000882

6x14 = .000923

5x16 = .001005

6x15 = .001059

7x14 = .001077

5x17 = .001134

6x16 = .001206

5x18 = .001272

6x17 = .001360

5x19 = .001416

6x18 = .001526

5x20 = .001570

ind inj super dragon flows (10 hole) - 5x10.25 + 5x18 .001684

6x20 = .001884

5x22 = .001900

5x24 = .002261

6x22 = .002280

5x25 = .002459 (this is what some refer to as a true competition injector)

*i figured out the csa (cross sectional area) for ea injector. those numbers are in bold

if you want to figure 24v stuff or something that is not on the chart use r² x pi x # of holes

take the hole size divided by 2 times pi (3.14259) times the number of holes

The reason your truck was built with 160 HP was the weak tranny. Better find out if your new torque converter will handle 200 HP.
If you develop 38 psi boost and are not happy with your power there is something wrong with your setup. Or should I guess that you want more power/torque at 12 psi?

The single disk billet I now have was built low stall and 400 hp , So I feel running a little bigger sticks won`t hurt the tranny. I just want a little more for the hills around here . The valve adjustment made a big difference also. small changer is how I plan to make my truck better for towing than stock .
