Step 1: Fuel Pressure Gauge! Probably a boost and pyro as well (maybe 3 pillar mounting). Low FP = bad news for the VP44 ($1000+).

After that it's up to you. The 24v motor can be hyped up nicely with an electronic box (unlike the 12v). Edge comp, smarty, quadzilla, etc.

What are your plans with it?

Other's will chime in too...

Ha ha ha good first replys.
Get gauge for sure especially fuel pressure. Wouldn't guru to just do a lift pump too. You'll need it sooner or later might as well get it out the way. Then I'd say a chip/box/programmer and go from there! Oh And remember your stock trans weak link. Good come up for you I'm jealous!

My '02 bought about the same mileage as yours. At 98k, lift pump and injection pump. At 130k, replaced the intank(Dodge's fix) pump with an aftermarket. Somewhere in there I did one ball joint. Not to long after that I did a clutch(pilot bearing exploded). Fifth gear nut.....which was supposed to have been permanently fixed by this time in production...., which it was not. Rear end killed, but not a Dodge thing. Dash looks like the Grand Canyon, instrument bezel has a single crack, overhead pocket door broke for years. Glove box has a crack? Don't know why but figure it just liked how the dash was looking and wanted to join in.

Lets see, vacuum pump leaks oil, puke bottle lubes everything real well for those pesky winter driving conditions and SALT. Oil pan gasket was replaced at Dodge dealer and is leaking again. Guess thats about everything I can think of right now. What would I do if I did not own this Dodge? Maybe I'd have more money in the bank? It's worked hard, engine still going strong(knock on wood).

If you are thinking programmer, you need, aftermarket fuel supply, gauges(fuel, egt, boost), aftermarket clutch to get you started. After that and the power of the fueling box turbo, exhaust and hopefully the VP holds up with the abuse. Yeah, they are pricey when you play. Unfortunately all of my problems happened on a basically stock truck.
