Talking new duramax

my boss is buying an 07 duramax,i know i tried to tell him but he wanted a clubcab not 4 full size doors,at least he didnt want a furd with all thier problems,he says for 07 they changed the displacment of the engine uping the hp.he didnt know the exact number though,i told him my cummins will get better milage and be able to outpull and be faster than his new durasmak,did i shoot my mouth off or should i be able to beat him,ive got a smarty with a comp and 130hp bd injectors bhaf and stacks and a pusherpump,please tell me im gonna beat him

Is the duramax a auto or manual? I cant beat a auto duramax with my 5-speed, the boost goes out the door. Try to do a rolling start from third gear, it'll help a little.

Im almost positive they didnt change the displacement for 07. I think the current motor they have is rated at 350hp/650tq. I would think that you could beat him in a race, but if he decides to get a tuner, you might not stand a very good chance. Your biggest disadvantage is having a manual tranny.

If you run him on the hwy while you are through your gearbox you should have no problems. If he has an auto, from a stop it could be tough, especially if he puts a box of some sort in the dmx. No box, you should be fine against a stock truck.

Man those things are mean outta the box.......I just got a new 06 for a work truck and I'm very impressed!!! With some tweaks that'll be SWEET!!!

Dually, hows those BD130 injectors working for you? I bought a set and all my truck does is misses. I thought that my VP injection pump was toast, thats another story. You get any smoke at wot and on spool-up. There a pretty clean injector and egt's are less than 1300 pulling my trailer. I actually got to run my truck on the 5X5 setting. Just the idle thing bugs me. I've find that the BD150 injectors do the same. I hate to buy a set of six injector tubes to have the same problem just for these injectors. My macher's and the stocker are smooth, so I don't know whats going on. BD just told me to send them back. I need a small injector so I could go camping. I hate covering my fifth trailer with the black sticky soot.

my borther had a chevy and the thing was pretty quick stock. I could beat him towing while he was stock but when he cranked up the power that truck was quick! They are more like cars. Just show him the wimpy steering and then show him yours. At least hes not getting a powerchoke

I would go to DDP and forget the BD squirters IMHO...

the stacks should help!

I know a guy who says the stacks make a lot more power on a diesel! the wind makes kinda venturi effect! lol and i guess it pulls the smoke out! and it spools the turbo up and

Better be careful about racing a Duramax I read in a magazine that did a diesel shootout with all three stock trucks that the Duramax clocked somewhere in the 14 second range bone stock. Hell most 500hp manual shifters won't be that fast.

hey mike,i really like the bd 130s,they dont smoke much at all and they idled very smooth,i originally bought a set of 90s and didnt think much of them so bd gave me a smokin deal on the 130s,for the price i love em,very clean,they work very well with the smarty by themselves without the comp on,im sure i gained some milage with them too.

all these replys saying how fast the duramax is is kinda scaring me,my boss mite take me up on my threat.guess ill have to sell the 2nd gen and get a 3rd gen with a smarty and some injectors and then smoke him but good.

you better make sure it's an auto. Smarty = $680, Injectors = $1000+, DTT tranny = $4000, cost of new truck = $36000+
Smile on your face when you beat your boss' stock Duramax = priceless.
Yes the Duramax's are fast but it's still wrapped in a Chevy, is it really that important to you to be able to beat a Duramax? Besides if you wanted a race truck you bought the wrong tranny.
