New Cb Antenna's

Just went out and got some new CB Antenna's for the truck. I figured Parallels would be better than the old magnetic single. Before with the single I would get a lot of squelch, now i hardly get any and i can pick up signals from A LOT farther away. Let me know what you think

Before:

After: (I didn't take the picture perfectly square, so the antenna's seem off a bit, lol)

Looks good. When I bought my 3500 it has dual antenna mounts, looks like it came with a CB from the factory because the antennas and the wiring all come up from under the dash, but look like the previous owner wanted the CB and chopped everything off... Where did you get you're antennas from?

Got them at a TA truck stop up here in Ontario, 30 mins away from me. Cost me $70 bucks Canadian for the 2 antenna's(4'), mirror mounts and coax cable(12'). I'm pretty happy with them

Dual whips are nice lookin...but u would get out a lot better if ya got an wilson magent or the wilson whip...with dual whips, everytime u key up the mic yur actually bouncing yur signal betweeen both antennas...in simple terms...the antenas are fighting each other to get a signal out. if ya got a single coaxel cable then yur alright but if yur runnin em both ya gotta problem.

I have not been able to get out and tune the antenna's yet, just put them on yesterday. Once it's a nice day I'm going to go over to my friends and tune them in.

Thrill - So far with the Dual Whips I can get a lot more in, and when i key up and talk, i can go a greater distance as well. Before when i had my Single Magnet Mount(Cobra) it wouldn't go that far at all. Me and my friend left school, he went one direction, i went the other. We weren't that far away and i could hear him, but he couldn't hear me. Last night we were driving around and he was a good distance a head of me, and pulling away and we could still hear each other great. When you are talking about single coax, do you mean just have one whip hooked up, and have the other for looks?

Ideally for duals you need 12ft between whips for them to work right but I have heard from lots of guys with duals on exteneded mirrors like your that have good results. If it works for you and you are not getting high SWRs then go with it.

Yea i was reading up on that. And i also read that as long as you are wider than 5ft they will work fairly good.
