New 6.7L hp/trq. rumors?

Anybody heard what the power numbers will be for the new 6.7L when it is put into the 2500/3500 trucks? Right now it's 325/610 in the cab chassis trucks. Seems like Dodge needs a little more to be competitive with Ford and the new Chevy. That new 6-speed auto should be sweet though. Any rumors on power output?

TDR magazine says 305hp, can't remember the torque. Said it will only be made available early on for stake body trucks, 4500 and heavier. They will roll out later for 2500 and 3500 trucks and they thought the hp would most likely be upgraded to trump the competition. Coolest thing I read about it was the Holeset turbo for it is water cooled and had a variable vanes. The cool thing about that is that it can act as an exhaust brake with out having to add one. Said all trucks equiped with this engine/turbo would be capable of having exhaust brake mode from the turbo, just needed to add the wiring and switching to make it happen.

I read that the new 6.7's will be rated at 305hp/610tq. Why would they have the 6.7 and 5.9 have the same torque rating?

I read the dodge page, or maybe it wat the cummins page, but they increased the size to help in reducing emissions to meet the new epa standards, without the use of after treatment.

I still think they are just keeping it hush, hush for now, throwing some numbers out there. Then when they release it blow Ford and Chevys doors off with some big numbers. You guys are getting awesome numbers out of the 5.9, so what could Cummins do with the 6.7???? You know it can't just be 305/610, even the 325/750 sounds week....well at least the hp does, torque sounds excellent!! I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I suspect that the 360/650 the General is bosting about will be crashed with the release of the 6.7L

I saw quite a bit of info on Cummins lineup for the 07 model year.
The turbo is a variable design, but quite different from Ford's unit. The Ford turbo alters each individual vane to change flow characteristics. The new Cummins turbos move the entire wheel(sorry don't remember whether it was compressor or exhaust) either closer to the housing or further away depending on what the ECM tells it. The main benefit is less moving parts when compared to the Ford style.
The other thing that caught my eye was the big EGR valve. As far as I know this has been a major issue with the Ford crowd, leading to quite a few problems. This should not pose the same threat to Cummins as most of their larger motors have been running EGRs for at least the last year or so.
As mentioned before there was no rumor that Cummins went to the larger displacement for performance gains over the others, but that the larger motor allowed for better emmisions tuning on the motor to keep with the new standards.
Hopefully for most of us the larger motor will no doubt be more powerful than the others in stock trim, but look at how far these 5.9s have been taken, the 6.7 should only lead to higher performance. Just wait till some of these performance guys get ahold of them.

5000 miles? You mean there's a powerjoke out there that went a whole 5000 miles before grenading? Wow...the new ones are better than when they first came out.

This is what i hear........6.7 is only in the Cab and chassis to start....then phased in for others. I hear that DonM is excited with the new head design.......on another post on here......ill see if i can find it....something to to the tune to 1000 HP should be no sweat with these engines.

i heard from the dodge rep, that the ratings would be 325/750 for the first year, and tweaking is already in the works, for the 2nd and 3rd years. He also said that they arent aiming for the 360 figure that dmaxs have because they cant pass emissions standards and will likely have too drop ratings too 340, or do the classic chevy thing....OVERRATE! Just what i heard, may or may not be true.

also on the 305/610 ratings for the chassis cabs....he said that is due too the fact that A) people who buy chassis cabs are doing so for work and fleets, not hot rodding. and B) dont want too release the ACTUAL ratings as the 6.7's wont be in the standard dodges till january or febuary

Chevy overrating!? What about Dodge when the "HEMI" came out? They made them things out to be an all-out hotrod. I have a friend that has an 03 hemi 345hp auto that raced a bone stock 01 GMC 5.3 285hp auto and he BARELY beat him. Im talkin dead even until the GMC's speed limiter kicked in at 98 and the Dodge went on to 105 or something. I doubt Chevy's the one thats overrating here. Just my $ .02.
