my friend bought a truck that had a Smarty in it at one time,but there is no sign of it now or can u tell if it is still chipped....it is supposedly stuck in the 6th stage, is there anyway to see if it is really stuck or to get the code out..

 

have to try another smarty on it i think. it should tell you the currently installed software # . . . .

 

Try another programmer it will store the tune that is currently on it and load the one you want. It can't be a box though has to be a tuner. Only other option is dealership.

 

They are vin locked so if the guy kept the Smarty he had to unload it from that truck first before he could sell or use it on another truck. My guess is the truck is stock.

 

im just say i dont know for sure though..but if its stuck on the 6th power level from a smarty it will run like a sob but if it doesnt run anybetter than stock....then its stock and judging by what you have done to you truck yall should be able to tell between the two of them

 

I would hope you could tell the difference in them or why buy a smarty. I was able to tell my truck had some kind of programmer on it as they spliced into the Map Sensor you could see the splices still in it.
And I agree can't imagine someone would leave a smarty on a truck when selling it as that discourages some people as they know what damage those can cause.

 

it's still stuck then....cause it will run with my truck and it's pushing over 400hp without a programmer
