Need some help with a possible miss/engine noise(long)
I have a 2000 24 valve of course, 6 speed that is driving me nuts.
Under a load it sounds terrible, its deffinately not firing one cylinder properly. You can feel it in the floor and pedals.
When I'm coasting I can hear noise in the intake, I'm pretty sure its not the head, I've been through that and its a fresh head and the valve lash is right on. Thinking maybe a cam, but I'm not too sure how to check it. Specs would be helpful on cam lift etc so I can check it. Or it could be just the way the loud monster is, I did have issues with the orginal head, but they don't exist anymore.
Injection pump, its a fairly new HRVP from II. Has a nasty idle and will drop #1 cylinder at times. Could be the problem, but I have no way of eliminating it right now. I've done a cylinder drop test with a scan tool and I noticed that injection events 3 and 6 (cylinders 3 and 4) make the most audable difference when shut down. The rest are notable, but not like those 2. Don't know if it means anything but its an observation worth noting.
Injectors, changed back to stock, no change in noise/behavior, just less power. 1.6's went back in.
ECM, is unknown, I did reprogram it back to stock software and ran it. No difference that I could see/hear, just alot less responsive. No way of eliminating it unless someone has an extra they'd let me try out at Fall Brawl.
I'm at my wits end with this thing any help would be apprieciated. And any of you guys/gals going to Fall Brawl will get a chance to listen to it, I'll trailer it out if I have too.
