How hard is to do a valve body?

I just read BD's instuctions on a valve body and I have a few questions for you guys that have installed one. Line pressure measurement, kickdown cable, and adjustments. How do you do Line pressure measurement while driving before the install? My transmission shifts fine right now. I have been wanting a smarty for a while and people have told me that with a valve body the trans will hold. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, you can't do line pressure while driving. Maybe with a DC/Cummins scan tool, but even then I don't know.

use a transmission presure guage in the port in tha side of your tranny they tell you to do this to see if you hav any trany problems that might need to be fixed. i ran tha gauge threw my 4x4 shifter and its been hooked up for 9 months. i just never got around to taking it off. the valve body is a pice of cake. the valve body and conveter greatly improved my rig. it comes with a new kick down lever i just slaped it in and torqued it down never made any other adjustments.

Ya, not bad If you don't mind the taste of ATF. Personally I find it too sweet. I haven't done a valvebody on a Chrysler, but I found a little Vasiline helps hold those little ***** in place.

Its not bad. Just expect to get a little messy, and the park rod clip can be a pain to get back on, but other than that, unbolt your old one, bolt the new one in, and fill er up with fluid. You really shouldnt have to adjust anything. Ill be installing a full built VB in mine really soon.

If just swapping VB's, it's not too bad. No ***** to worry about, they're internal. The very worst part is the park rod e-clip, just give me that "engineer?" for 5 minutes Don't forget to unplug, and replug, the wiring harness When you drop the VB the one piston will drop out, watch which way it and the springs go, so you can reinstall them properly. I did my Transgo kit in one afternoon by myself, and could probably do another in half the time.

Its been several years since I have done a valve body.
ATS sent a set of directions with their valve body and all went well.
It took me about 3 or 4 hours the first time. I could probably do it a little faster these days. Just have to pay some attention and watch out for that red fluid!!

This is all very helpfull. I saw BigBlue sig and he raves about the DTT. Its the same price as bd's so I think I will get that one. As far as holding the smarty down you think the trans will handle wot hole shots?

I've never removed the e-clip.

MUCH easier to just remove the whole park rod. all it takes is turning the driveline and it pops right out. When putting it back in just turn it and it will fall into place.

Have to give it a try to see what I am talking about.
