Well all you 12cm lovers, I have a very low mileage 12cm that I would love to trade for a non/waste gated 16cm?? I will even throw in a adjustable boost controller. Any takers?? Thanks Rick

If i were to put in a set of 370's( ) should I leave the 16cm housing on, or put the 12 on still? Thanks

You'll see way to much boost with the 16. Hog out the wastegate on the 12 and limit the boost to 30-35psi. EGT's will be easily controled but they will get toasty. 370's are just a lot of injector for a stock hx35, even a hybrid.

Well. I really dont know if I want to go to 370's anyway, because what i am looking for is something that runs really good on the street, pulls well, and has controllable(not to say it wont get warm when you are romping on it) EGT's. I think I would really like more than anything to go with 215 injectors, and some 181 D.V.'s to get what im after. But sounds like either way, i need the 12cm on it,s o looks like it will be getting drilled out, and going on this week probably. Thanks again!

Eric see my sig, I'm doin fine with a 12 but it's slightly modified which helped DRAMATICALLY. JMHO but check this out:https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ght=northslope

Oh yeah it's gonna be a hybrid soon too so we'll see just how bad the bark will be with the 12, might cut the divider all the way out just where it starts to turn the corner about 5" deep total. We'll see!

PS it is louder with a slightly different tone so it MUST be flowing more

you'll be fine w/ the 12 w/ your pump...

the 16nwg flows about like a 12 gated, it just spools a LOT slower

Havent messed with it yet guys. I am not sure, but my down pipe(home made) may keep me from being able to put my 12cm housing back on because it may be hitting the firewall then. I am probably still going to try it sometime; just havent done it yet. I really dont think a 16cm housing is worth the money no matter what route you are going. Cant control boost if you get modded very much, pretty slow spool, and a modded 12cm will be at least very close to as good with EGT's. If i had it to do over again; I wouldnt have ever put the 16cm housing on there; but live and learn i guess . I will post a new thread if/when i do switch back with the difference in spoolup, and EGT's.

On the top end, yes. If you lug it it will get really toasty.

Yes; it will help a little on top end, but Spoolup will suck more than likely

think about it guys... if a modded 12cm can regulate the boost where a 16cm would overboost, the modded 12cm gated housing flows BETTER than a nwg16

the only place for a nwg16 is on a mildly bombed or stock 1st gen IMHO.

I agree with you on the second part, Forrest.

On a 16 cm all the exhaust is going past the turbine, on a 12 cm some of it is bypassing. You can't say that a modified 12 cm flows better just because it can limit boost. Using that logic you could say that a 12 cm flows more than a 21 cm.

doodah, I'd only try an 18.5 cm if you can get it cheap/free. It doesn't flow much better, and you will only drop about 3 psi of boost.

I think the only way to control boost is to quit messing around with tiny little Holset's, and use something that will pick you up a little power while doing it. The 35's are worthless on probably 50% of the trucks on here that have them!

Dave, you're at the head of the pack

Although I've never actually ran a hybrid 35 yet...don't ever plan on it unless the 40 in my twins won't spool! Then, I'll swap in the 35/40 60mm/14cm NWg housing in it's place

Doodah...you have more (or as much) fuel than me!!!!! I'd hold off on the 370's till you can get a turbo. EGT's will be through the roof, and a turbo would probably get you another 25-40hp

JMHO,
Chris

Well, I have been running the 370s since this spring!, I tow alot, and heavy, and I run a #100 plate slid about 3/4s to the front also afc to the front, 3000gsk bhaf with a hx35 with a 12cm housing, all with a 180 pumpand stock DVs and built auto, and I see 1300 alot, but it usually holds 1300-1400 until Im running at highway speed, then back down to 900-1100 runnin all day. Im not saying its a problem, just think maybe I could do better!, I do watch my guages like a hawk, and on some grades I have to work my foot pedal alittle, but its not very often., I have another guy from this site with a 18.5cm housing off of a H1C he will trade me for my 12cm, I have another 12, but I like having it for a spare. just wondering if its worth it. Aron Howlett from amusement ride performance said that I shouldnt bother, and I should try to buy a hx-40 or a hybred 35/40, I jsut dont want to get rid of my spare, I cant afford the downtime!, is a 14cm housing what I should be looking for? drill out the center wall? I bought this spare turbo last year from a guy, that claimed it was a 14cm hx, but, I am thinking its a 12!!, I cant find any stampings on it that tell me different!-{THEY ARE THERE, I JUST CANT SEE ANYTHING THAT ATELLS ME ANYTHING} I also have a schwitzer that I have no clue as of what it came off of, but Aron says it looked like the schwitzer verion of the holset 55, I can find some stampings on it, if anyone can help me find out what it is!
