Need help with a comp box

I just installed a comp box on a 1999 quad cab. It runs fine. In fact I love the additionall power from the box. The only proglem is that it is hard to start. The truck has always started right up. now I have to crank for what seems like for ever. In addition the check engine light is on. When I pulled codes I got number 252.the fuel injection pump fuel valve is stuck. What does that mean? Could I have tapped the wrong wire to the VP-44? Amy help would be greatly appreciated.

Either you tapped the wrong wire or the injection pump is going out on you. Hard starting after the truck is warm is a sure sign of VP failure.

Edge Comp ?

Thanks for the reply. The VP 44 is less than 60 days old and I am running a factory lift pump and the BD auxillary pump. I have 17 PSI at idle and 10.5 psi at WOT. Once it starts it seems to run great. Am I doing any damage to the VP by driving the truck.

Try unhooking the pump wire from the COMP and see if the hard start goes away.
If so, double check the directions about the correct wire to pierce, or just get a Blue Chip pump cover to make a "stealth" connection.

I unplugged the gray wire and it starts just fine. I am going to take it by the dealer and make sure I am on the right wire. Since they are both black it makes it hard to make sure I have the right wire. I am also going to order the new cover from Blue Chip. Until then I will just run it on the second level. Thanks for all the help.

It's the top wire closest to the head. You'll see two wires stacked on top of each other. Use the one that's on top.

Yeah, it's VERY easy to get the two mixed up. I originally tapped the furthest OUT wire and caught it as soon as I read the directions a second time while still doing the Juice install. Like Big BLue said, the top wire closest to the head.

Not Doing The Grey Wire

Well I went by the place that I bought the box from and I had tapped the wrong wire. Before tapping the right one I called Central Motive Power in Denver and asked what effect tapping the wire would have on the warranty of my newly installed pump. And he said that as soon as I tapped that wire I was flying solo and the warranty would be voided. So I decided to leave it alone and drive it the way that I left it. It drives great and fuel milage seems to have gone up by about 2 MPG. Not bad. Thanks again for all the help. P.S. I may call Blue Chip and order the plate. The curiousity is killing me.

Mine had the tapped comp on for about 10k or so. Once i went to the drag comp it just took a few months till it died and i stepped up to a hrvp.
