Need advice on what turbos to consider

Hi all,

It's time to move up to a bigger turbo. I currently have the stoch hx35 on my truck, and I need to step up. Here's the scenario: I'm gonna eventually put twins on it. Right now, it has the modifications listed in my signature. So, I need a turbo that will give a good gain now while still being suitable for use in a pair of twins. My truck currently has the stock exhaust manifold, and a 4" mandrel bent system from piers, which is hooked to the stock small elbow. Both the stock elbow and stock turbo need to go.

Check out High Tech Turbos. Good service, good prices and upgradeable. Call them and ask for Paul, he can help you pick the right one.

Thanks, you're the second person who's said that. (someone else answered on another forum) I checked their site, and was impressed. I'll call Paul tomorrow morning and see what his take on it is.

I like my super B and it is very adapted to twins.

I ended up ordering an HTB2 64 for it. I spoke with Rip at HTT, and he has a heckuva package deal. You get the turbo, 4" downpipe, v band clamp, and flexible oil drainback pipe for $1525. I felt like that's a very good deal, so I went for it. Coincidently, I just took the truck to a local dyno. See the thread I'm about to start for results!

Isn't that gonna be a little big for twins?

He recommended that I step down from the 64 to the 62 when it comes time for twins.

not too impressed with the phat shaft 62/14. pulling or even empty seems to run hot with either the mach 4's or 1.6's. i'm still doing some testing so can't say for sure if it's going to be sold or not. it will spool but doesnt' move enough air to keep things cool.
