My CTD vs Stock Duramax

I live near a 1.5 mile long 10% grade. Starting at the bottom, I can hit 90 mph at the crest. With what you see in my signature, should I be able to leave a stock Duramax wondering what happened?

Re:My CTD vs Stock Duramax

I found a victim! He was at the pump at the local BP and was going on and on about how he leaves all his buddies with CTD's behind on the hills. I told him I had a $100 bill that said I beat him to the top of that hill I mentioned. He said he didn't have time. I said "OK"

If you're going to run a stock D/A from a standing start, look out. From about 40 on - not much of a problem. Don't know how you'd fare against a stock 6 speed Duramax.

I will guaratnee you if you pick on one with a box that you will loose. My dads DM with the hot box is a rocket especially in 1st gear they are geared low. Its no slouch with my mods I can take him but with my box off I can't its a quick truck.

Re:My CTD vs Stock Duramax

I believe a stock D-max 6-speed is way quicker than one with an Allison. Why, I don't know. I drove them both before I bought my 6-speed and the 6-speed, I thought, was way more responsive in each gear compared to the Allison. Plus I like that I can choose what gear and when versus a computer doing that for me. (By the way, watch out for those sneaky electronics. If drove right, there are no signs, aka smoke, that they have anything done to it.)

Re:My CTD vs Stock Duramax

If you're bombed why don't you pick on another truck that is bombed as well. You can't really claim bragging rights if you're blowing the doors off of stock trucks when you've got yours turned up. :

Stock against stock or bombed against bombed is one thing...and you can brag a little if you win. Bombed against stock you should ALWAYS win.....so where's the challenge?

Re:My CTD vs Stock Duramax

rattle rattle:

I agree with what Jamie has told you. With ANY type
of fueling box they become much faster. I ran my new
2002 auto (stock) against a new stock Chevy Duramax with the Allison about two months ago and got my "doors blown
off pretty good!! I was with him until mine shifted into
second gear and then he was gone!!! One thing to
remember though,......ALL Duramaxes are fuel governed
to begin "defueling" at about 94 MPH, so if your Dodge
can exceed that you will definitely pass him once you get
above 95 MPH! That is more my speed anyway!!

Good luck and let us know how you make out!

-------
John_P
