Question Muffler

Ok I have had enough with the 4 inch straight pipe. Love it when I'm empty but pulling a load for several hours it gets old. So my question for yall is what size, brand, and type of muffler should I get without giving up my performance. Your thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

DODGE4X4,

We sell lots of our sprial flow muffler to folks that have straight pipes and or the lesser quality mufflers that get sold with the low end systems that let the muffler packing blow out. They are available in aluminized, and t-409 stainless. Give us a call if you want.

Dodge, I have the Dynomax Ultra-Flow on mine. It still opens up when you're on it, but it toned it down dramatically at idle and cruise. I have the shorter one, I believe they make a 16"( which I have) and a 24-28", I can't remember the exact length of the longer one, but I imagine it would quiet it down even more. It is a straight through design, so I doubt it hurts performance at all, I never noticed any change in anything but the sound. It gets rid of the raspyness for sure. Mine has stacks on it so I still get drone in the cab, but with a rear-exit muffler I'm sure it'd take care of it, and it'd still give you the big-rig sound. got it at Advance Auto for 80 bucks.

If get a MBRP muffler will this take care of my problem or will I need a high flow resonator also? My trouble is when I'm pulling.

DODGE4X4,

It should if all things are typical. Occassionally you have a real odd truck that will still be louder than you want.

You should definitely get a resonator if Drone or noise is a concern aeroturbine's work very well for eliminating drone. Diamond eye mufflers have the high temp packing in them and it stays in the muffler their web site is www.diamondeyeperformance.com

Diamond Eye OFFERS a packed muffler, but ONLY if you ask for one. Why would anyone WANT to run a packed muffler on a Diesel ?
