Mods vs. Warranty

What engine mods are considered "warranty-friendly"? I assume any kind of box won't go over too well at the dealer, but how do they look upon simple intake and exhaust mods? What about injectors? I know this will vary somewhat from dealer to dealer, but if anyone has personal experience they can relate, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Chris

Re:Mods vs. Warranty

It's usualy up to the dealer. Most of the time they will say as long as whatever is broke isn't linked to the aftermarket part. Then again some dealers will void everything if an aftermarket part is on it. You need to talk to your dealer to see how they would look at that. I just un-plug everything before I take mine in. Which has only been a few times ;D. Injecteros are propably the easiest thing to hide. Thats internal.

Kimrey

Re:Mods vs. Warranty

I know some dealers are different, but the dealer up here says that he doesnt care what size injectors you run or what kind of box you put in, or what air filter or what exhaust you run. This will not void the warranty. What will void the warranty is if you ***** the pump wire. This dealer is better than most for mods. He says if you ***** the wire, you had better learn how to fix things yourself or have lots of money.

Re:Mods vs. Warranty

The best way to get a dealer on your side is to go there for your regular maintenance. If you are one of those customers who only comes around for something "free" they will be less likely to "help" you. I know that the dealer I work at will try to accomodate the guy who gets his 15,000 mile service and 30,000 mile service done by us before we assist the customer who doesn't know we exist until he wants some warranty work done. Whether others feel this is right or not, that is the way it is and I kinda have to agree with it. It is "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" and that is the way the world works.

John

PS. Coffee and Donuts go a long way with us techs.
