Ok guy's I have been thinking about a Meth. injection kit for the old 12 valve and I'm wondering about a few things. 1# What kind of power gains are you seeing with it? 2# What kind of timing are you running?3# Are you running Studs? What kind of power levels are you running at before deciding to run the meth?? Myself I'm thinking after the studs and Cometic go in I want to try it but I have to figure out what would be the best timing to run??

 

I just put meth on mine, I will probably need a cometic and studs pretty soon

 

I am also thinking about putting the meth on my 94 and it claims to give up to 70hp but you would have to put it on the dyno to see the actual numbers. I am hoping for about another 40hp to 50hp. The studs would be a good idea!

 

its usually around 50 hpbut it adds stress to a stock head gasket. i would do a gasket and studs so youre not stranded anywhere.

 

i put the metanol on my truck and wasnt really impressed. other than cooling down the egts. but i am doing studs hg, and an htt ss 62/13/71 right now so that might make a bit if a difference. once the meth starts injecting be prepaired for your boost to skyrocket. and mabie thats why i havent seen much of a diff. as soon as i went wot my boost was pushing 60# on my stock turbo with the meth on so i had to back off. any who just my thoughts

 

besides washer fluid, what else can I buy that has mostly methanol in it? I went to home depot and saw mineral spirits and denatured alcohol, which had methanol in them but is it bad to run those? how much is in them?

 

You can buy straight Methanol usually from a speed shop or a fuel reseller.

Also, the fuel line antifreeze also known as HEET is pure methanol.

 

I guarantee it won't be cheap to ship that here. plus there is no Heet on the island because there is no winter time season. only summer all year long

 

methanol (i think) is a byproduct of natural gas refining. its an industrial waste product really. The price varies all over the place so you have to keep an eye out when to get it cheaply.
Any petroleum supply company should carry methanol. I paid 140USD 55gal delivered about 4 months ago
