Mechnical Pump and 216 code

Mechnical Pump and 216 code
Got my newley rebuilt engine running today 
While engine was out installed new Mechnical LP now I have all kinds of FP (to much 25 idle 35+ at WOT)and a 216 code with check engine light to boot I wired a small light to the old LP harness to complete the circuit this did not help the code I also deleted the stock fuel filter with a spinon 2 micron and have 2 open circuits there this may be adding to problem.
Any Ideas?
