Max MPG

Hey guys, I have a few questions about getting better MPG's. I figure freeing up some stock components with aftermarket ones would help, like a new intake, straight piped and turbo back exhaust, aftermarket manifolds, maybe some other things. But what about the power modules? Which one have y'all found works the best? I really like that Hypertech E-Con, but I know there are some others that I have seen but not really heard anything about. And what about water/meth injection and propane injection? Does the water injection help gain MPG's? Can the two systems be combined? Does that FASS fuel system help with fuel economy also? And here is my final question. If I installed everything I listed above, intake, exhaust, manifold, E-Con, water/meth and propane injection, and FASS fuel system, about how many MPG's should I expect to pick up on a 24v Cummins? Thanks for the help guys. Somewhat trying to build my truck up for fuel economy first, then after I max that out I'm gonna go for power.

So far mine MPG improvement has been the home made locking hub kit and possible the conversion to all synthetic oils. I did both about the same time so I'm not sure as to which gave me what MPG savings. I was averaging 19mpg before (I have no onboard MPG display) now it is averaging between 22.7 to 23.5 mpg. All hand calculated.
I want to try the 50hp injector sets from DDP, I've heard that most people were seeing a 1 to 2mpg improvement. Also change out Torque Converters to a lower stall, everyone who has done this has claimed better fuel mileage.
I do know there is definetly a better fuel mileage increase when going from D rated tires to E rated tires. D rated tires are of a softer compound, creating more road resistance.
A huge amount of people are talking about spending $4k to $10k on compact cars that get good fuel mileage. Why not buy one of those kits that convert fry oil into fuel oil instead, seen one advertised the other day on off road tv for about $3500 and was making 1gall for about .70c. It could mix up to 30gall at a time. Yes, you spent 3500, what is the cost to gain, per gallon??? but wasn't you also going to spend 3500 on a car that needs to be insured and registered all the time, no matter what, will at least cost 5 to 10 dollars a day to operate. (wear and tear, tires, oil, filters) run bio and at least you get to drive one of the best trucks ever built. I would rather be sittin high in my Dodge then sittin low in a rice burner.

If you are really going for maximum mileage, then propane or water/meth will help a little(I don't have experience with the latter but I do with the former). If you are trying to save money however, I don't think you will with either of these between the cost to install and the cost to run one of these systems. There are better places to put your money.

The biggest problem here is wind resistance. Your engine can't be made much more efficient but the load on it can be greatly reduced. There is a member on here who built a giant air dam and saw a huge mileage increase. If you can't stand the low ground clearance of that, a really nice belly pan would be better than nothing. Also, taping all of your seams will help. The other thing you could try is lightening it but if you use it like a truck, this won't work.

my setup sees 23 on the highway, im changing it all around now but it worked well and that with a huge bumper and flatbed that acts like a sail. the hubs are worth it if you have a 4x4? giving us what ur truck is in the sig would help. i saw about 3 mpg with the hubs alone plus fact that these are cheaper to change out barings and when i did mine i needed new rotors too and this kit came with them, all in all it cost about the same for me to get the kit as it did for me to get all the stock parts i needed. as for a chip quads milage chip is cheep and great, people see to be seeing 2+ with it. i havent tryed any of the other things you were asking about so no comment there. i also do run the RBP additive.

They are made by two companies: Dynatrac and EMS off-road.

They are not cheap! But cost is the only complaint I've heard--- the guys who have done it have reported good mpg improvements and better handling (not to mention the cheaper bearing replacement).

I'm strongly considering Dynatrac myself, as part of a whole-kit-and-caboodle driveline upgrade including limited slips front and rear and stronger 35 spline front axles.

The two kits side by side (since i have used and installed both) are comparible in quality.

i have the ems, it is the cheaper of the 2 but it is still a great kit. im told the hubs stick out further with this kit then the Dynatrac but with wider rims and tires i wont notes it at all. thought that wont help u if ur looking for milage dont get wider tires, taller yes wider no. theres a thread around here somewhere that hohn have the ideal setup for milage. it was pritty much right on, havent seen anything better sence. id try to find that if i were you or maybe he can post it up agen if he has it somewhere.
