MAP connection question

Just wondering..What true effect does unplugging the MAP connection when running an Edge Comp box truly have on the 24V CTD? I've been running like that for a good while. Some say no effect, others say don't do it. What do I believe?

For the most part it just makes more smoke from the start. Some say it gave them a little more low end grunt. When the map it hooked up the comp fuels according to bost psi, as the boost rises so does the ammount of extra fueling from the comp. With the map unplugged the truck thinks its seeing 20psi all the time so the comp will give 100% fuel the moment you hit the go pedal for the level you are in.

So really no harm done then??? My buddy works for Mustang/CAT and we argued for hours over how bad he says it is for my engine..yada..yada..yada. I told him he's crazy and explained just what you just told me. I think he needs to go back to tech school for a bit longer

The only ill effect there might be is a bit of milage loss. No one has proven it ever did anything else to an engine.
