Internet Connection Question
Iv had cable internet connection thru Aldelphia for about two years.
Recently, ATT has been upgrading their lines to FiberOptic.
I was wondering how many on here have switched to or have Fiber Optic and how you like it?
I signed up for a thirty day trial for internet and tv and was curious who else had it.
Thanks.

Just a plain ole guy
Be careful. I've heard of alot of folks switch, and the copper is pulled off the house and you can't switch back. Folks with trial versions are getting real hacked of when they find this out.

Not real sure with ATT but we are pushing fiber to the "node" Cross box in your neighbor hood and then it's copper to the house. Right now it's 7mb but 10 and 20mb in the near future. It works just fine, much more constant than cable and you are on a dedicated line so it doesn't matter if your neighbor is surfing or not unlike cable.
You might run into some issues with the phone lines in your house, DSL likes to run in a strait line is the best way I can describe it so you might have to dedicate a line to your modem and filter it from the phone box on the side or back of your house. If you don't filter it there you must use filters on all your phones, fax, sat boxes etc. We will install and dedicate a DSL line for $70 and it's money well spent for most. If you have an alarm system you MUST filter it from the outside box or spend the money (I've been told as much as $150 for a filter for the alarm system) If your handy with phone lines just shoot me a PM and I could walk you through it.
Good luck
