So I checked my oil yesterday and its about 2 qts over. I havent changed anything in the last 10000 miles, so what could be going on???? If I could just make fuel that easy man would I really love my truck.....

 

Are you sure there's no fuel or water in that oil?

 

There is 3000 miles on the oil change. I check it everytime I fill up and has never gained oil or lost oil sense Ive owned it. Its black but im fightin the flu so I cant smell anything, as far as fuel. The radiator has not dropped at all so im guessin that its not water.....

 

I would think fuel, both the lift pump and the IP can do it. seals go bad and just dumps fuel into the case. One problem with that, diesel thins oil.

 

Could be Injectors, IP, not too much else I can think of on a VP truck.

 

oops I missed that is a VP truck no worry about lift pump leaking

 

Could be the injector O-rings leaking ,actually more likely than not

 

But why all of a sudden..... The injectors have been in for about 20000 miles, only thing that I changed sense the injectors was a new turbo.....

 

Redliner, I just went through what you are going through right now. My injectors have not been touched for a year so about 25,000 miles but it started making oil and fast! Turned out to be #3 injector. I just removed the valve cover, started her up, and looked for bubbles around the injectors. It is almost impossible to get a good look at #5 and #6 but after changing the oring on #3 bubbly injector, my problem stopped.

All that I can figure is the cold weather makes for colder than normal starts when the o-rings aren't warm and pliable to help seal in the overflow fuel.

 

By the way, I put this off for a week and just changed my oil because idling oil pressure was low and in a week It made two quarts. I finally set aside enough time on a Saturday and it only took 1 hr because it was just one injector so I didn't remove much to get at the o-ring.

I hear that Bosch, and or cummins can supply you with some tracer dye to put in the fuel filter canister that shows up real well with a black light to find even trace leakage.
