MAAP Step Bars for '03 HD?
MAAP Step Bars for '03 HD?
Anyone have the MAAP Stainless Step Bars for an '03? I only saw a part # for the 1500s, nothing for the heavy duties which I assume would be a different part number because the frames are different. Unless the they use the body mount locations which may be the same? ???

Yep - got 'em on mine: MAAP SS Steps

The steps fit on the body, not the frame. In the 02/03 parts catalogs, it's necessary to order the 1500's, in the new 03/04 catalogs the 2500's have accurate numbers.

Best to y'all
Bill

Ummm... well... it's been it was 8 months ago when I got my steps and I did not save the catalog - sorry.

But, I do know the distributors handling MAAP products have the info you need. I went through JC Whitney with no problems.

Bill

OK I sent the Carr GX2 steps I bought back today (Didn't want to drill into the rocker panels to mount) and ordered the MAAP Challenger steps in stainless. I ordered from Cabela's but the one person I talked to didn't think they would fit a HD truck as someone had asked yesterday and that was the answer. The product "specialists" had all gone for the day though.

Since they mount to the body and you two both seem to have verified they fit ok I figured they must work. Strange that they don't update the online data any faster than they do.

The part of the body they mount to underneath is pretty strong and does not flex as I thought it would.

But, be warned - the installation instructions/photos, in my opinion, sucked. Mine did not give me a clue as to what part went where so I had to try several fitments to get it right. As a result, took me about an hour to get the first one on. But, the second step only took about 15 minutes.

Got 'em for the wifey - she loves 'em and appreciates the ability to get into and out of the truck easier. I got the SS oval MAAPs 'cause they fit relatively close to the truck compared to most steps and I wont lose too much room for off-roading. MAAP uses the good SS which does not get that brown tinge like cheap SS does after a while.

Bill

Re:MAAP Step Bars for '03 HD?
Yeah I found that on the TDR and that's when I decided I'd get them. I didn't see how they couldn't fit a HD as well, plus those pics should make it easier since the instructions sound like they aren't that clear.
Re:MAAP Step Bars for '03 HD?
I have them on mine, ordered them from Cabela's. I ordered mine for the 1500 and they fit fine. It all attaches to the boady not the frame, so the frame is not an issue for you to worry about.
