A low blow by the law :((

I just got my first ticket for "excessive black smoke" tonight.. Its a city ordinance.. i looked it up and i can't fight it... But i guess now i know i am really over fueled OH WELL THO.. 50$ ticket Isnt going to stop me from making more and more mods.., This is the first ticket of the sort, but i'm sure not the last.. Anyone else get a ticket like this? The cop was going to give me a ticket for noise ordinance but decided on the smoke one because it was more airtight if took it to court, lol..

It seems to be common in TX, they have a State law covering it I believe. That, or civilians can call in and report you and then they send you a freindly letter telling you to "clean up" your act!

I imagine lots of places have it, probably few enforce it though.

They could sit outside a few of the quarrys near my house and pick off about 7 out of 10 dump trucks. Some of those guys spew the thick stuff

I'm afraid it will be like the bumper law, all it takes is the right person squally and the laws will hit the books. I try real hard to not leave a smoke trail behind but when it's real hot it is hard.

I definitely pick and choose where I lean into the loud pedal anymore...it can be frustrating, 'cause I just KNOW I can whip that lowered acura, but when we both get pulled over, I think the officer will know where the black cloud came from...

Not over fueled - you just need more air.

Well if you were going around blowing smoke to show off or whatever you probably deserved the ticket.
The black smoke gives our trucks and cause a bad name.

Now if you werent trying to blow smoke then you probably need to turn down your box or lean up your truck a bit (or lighten up on the go pedal).

a word of advice, fight the ticket, fight every ticket, even if you know you will loose in court, because there is a 50/50 chance the cop won't show and then they have to throw it out. I have got about 15 tickets in the past, most of them little stuff like lights being out, but only one time the cop actually showed up and the judge laughed at him for actually writing a ticket for my licence plate being too close to the ground and threw it out and told the cop to find better use of his time.

another word of advice, when you get your court date, sometimes they will change it because the cop can't make it, but when they do that, you have the right to change the date after that, do it

its not smoke, its particulate matter, and its the best thing about my truck. I would never get rid of the ability to stop traffic. My truck is pretty fast, but the smoke is the most fun. How many times have I smakoed a tailgater....1000, 2000 who knows, no leo's needed, no state money costs, just alittle smoke and the problem is solved.

Here in the state of Kalifornia anyone can report Smoke by calling
"1 800 cut smog" and give em the licence plate, then the DMV is all over you like stink on you know what! Got to be easy on the "juice" in town!

I have reduced my smoking alot. When I first got my old 7.3 to smoke and it did a ton I would go around smokin everything in fact all the trees around my house died. But know I try and only do that when someone really pisses me off, which doesen't happen nearly as much.
