Looking for ideas on sound attenuation

Do a lot of highway miles and looking for ways to decrease the noise in the cab, I heard of tearing out the flooring and putting sound insulation underneath. Anything else.

Yeah, did you check the price ? $ 140.00 for a 2ft x 3ft !!!

You need at least 4 of them if not more, it's cheaper buying a new truck !!!!!!

Here should be some good reading:

Try these links and see if they work for you.

I used Fat Mat instead of dynamat. There are a bunch of other mfgrs out there too. Fat Mat is also on eBay.....their shipping is slow though.

JC Whitney also has a heavy duty insulation that helps on the back wall of the cab. You have to use your own spray adhesive, but it cuts down on some additional noise.

you don't need that stuff, go to a place that sells roofing supplies and get a few rolls of black ice. I think thats what its called. its the same as dynamat, just thinner. but you will be able to buy enough to coat your whole cab 3 times for cheaper than 1 coat of dynamat.

The realy bad spot is the back of the cab, there is nothing but bare metal back there and thats were I think 75% of the sound comes from.

The back window is where a lot comes through, I thought to put a soft rubber strip between cab and box to stop some of the exhaust noise coming in, it will work in summertime but in winter with snow it will pack there, freeze and squeak.

I was told at a audio installation store that when dynamat was too expensive he sprayed the entire cab of his F-250 with bed liner twice. Said it worked great at over half the cost.

The sound control companies make a liquid application as well. There are enough competitors out there now that has brought the price down on the stuff. Just look around and buy the bulk lot.
