Line-X bedliner questions on prepping

My truck is starting to show its age on the bottom of the doors, not any holes, just surface rust. I am gonna be getting the bottom of my truck sprayed with Line-X [grey color]. I know how to do bodywork, but I am wondering if I should just sand blast it & coat it in primer before taking it to the Line-x guys. Do they do all the prep work & rust treatments before spraying or is that my responsibility?

Talk to the the guys you plan on doing the LineX. Most of the time they rough up the surface a little so it bonds better. I personally like my Rhino but its all personal preference.

I was going to get the rhino, but my bro has it & it is chipping off along the edges of his tailgate where it meets the bed. Also along the edges of the bed & along the rails. It also has a really rough texture & I want a smoother texture spray. I've been trying to call that shop all week, but haven't had time or they are closed. I usually get a busy signal when I do call, just figured someone here would know.

You have to get rid of ALL the rust or it will just appear back thru the other side.

When I had mine done they just do the light roughing to get it to stick. If you have something like surface rust I would clean it up and prime it yourself.

I used to work at linex and when trucks get sprayed all we do is hit the area with a d.a. sander then wipe it off with lacquer thinner. If your truck has a little surface rust no problem but if the rust is deep and there is pitting or holes you will want to fix that yourself.
