Lifts

First of all Howdy I just joined and love this site already. I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on possibly lifting my truck, still shopping and tryin to decide if I want to go this route or not. I want to get some height but not to much due to pulling gooseneck horse trailers <dont want to throw the quality of the trailer ride for my horses off>. I have thought about just leveling out the front end and uping the tires or going with a 2inch lift and larger tires, still undecided but am looking for possible ways to gain some height without throwing my horses off. Also with time and money I want to replace my injectors, intake, exhaust, a programmer and some cosmetic mods as well. Although right now I am limited due to droping any extra money I have into roping and my horse training business...I wonder if i could write off the mods on my truck as business expensese..hmmmm ...Thanks In Advance for any Help ~Heather~

First off, welcome to the site.

Secondly, what year truck? that will weigh heavily on what info you recieve.

It would help to fill out your signature.
Click on "user cp" button up above, then profile, then you'll see a box for the signature.
Put truck info in there, year, make, model, any mods you've got already, and soforth.

Once that is done, one of us friendly moderators can move you post to where it will get the most exposure.

Alrighty.

I'll move this on over to 2nd gen aftermarket for some great exposure.

There are a number of threads speaking of lifts, might get your questions answered in them.

Skyjacker seems to be popular. I know people atleast use their coils to level out the truck.

1st Gen - 1989-1993
2nd Gen 12 Valve Engine - 1994-1998
2nd Gen 24 Valve Engine - 1998.5-2002
3rd Gen - 2003 and up

It is all based on a combination of body style and engine. Under that you have further designations based on different HP ratings, engine codes, and such. There is more info under the Tech Facts.

I wouldn't go over 3" if yer plannin' on stuffin' a gooseneck under it....best bet would be a coil spacer and shocks. Should only set ya back about $500 or so for Bilstein 5100 shocks and a Daystar 2.5" coil spacer. Ride will still be nice. 2" of lift in the front will sit ya about level.

I'm sure you could find some dumb ol' cowboy to put 'em in for ya

If you just put a 2" spacer up front all you will need are the spacers and 2 shocks that are 2" longer than stock. The spacers are great you mantain the stock ride. I have 3" spacers on my truck and it sagged in the rear so I put on a set of air bags.
Here is how it looks
