Lifts
looks good nosmoke......how hard is it to install.....it doesnt look to hard and shocks are easy....just can be a pain in da ****.....I can do alot on my trucks...just some things....as far as lifts and serious engine components i have not gotten into and will definately make my buddies help....its called a few phone calls a cooler full of beer and a hell of a good time
The easyest way is get a set of coil compressors and put the on the coils with the truck sitting on the ground. Unbolt the shock then take out the 3 bolt that hold on the shock tower. Pull out the towers and the shocks drivers side is kind of a tight fit. Then jack up the truck by the frame so the tires will stay on the ground. Put in the spacers lower the truck back down. Put the new shocks in and the towers and your done. It can be done with out the spring compressors but it is a bastard to get the spaces in. You may have to unbolt the track bar (it runs form the passanger side of the axle the the drivers side frame rail) unbolt it at the axle it will alow it to drop down farther. To get the bolt back in after everything is put back together start the truck and turn the wheel until the hole lines up.
Hope this helps.
The last truck I put one on took me and my frind 45min to get it done. Would have been quicker but we didn't have a coil compressor. Had to use a big bar to get the coil in.

Check ebay they go for around $100 The shocks that I have on my truck are way heavy duty but I cant remember the name I think they are deutech tech or something the cost me $84 for the pair and they are for a 3" lift the standard duty ones ran $54 a pair. I dont think you should have to spend over $200
I would suggest the Skyjacker D25 coils. They give 2 1/2" of front lift and are better than spacers, in my opinion. Have heard of a couple of guys having problems due to the spacers.
I have heard many differnt amounts of lift gains with the skyjacker coils but with a spacer you know what you will get and also they won't sag over time and you keep the stock ride with spacers.
That exactly what i was thinking.....with spacer the ride would more than likely remain the same.....n with springs I can only imagine your ride would be altered and not as smooth.....and with the amount of daily driving and towing I do....I definately dont want to lose my ride quality
ok I have another question....which shocks are better......rancho or bilstein.....they run about the same....or does anyone else have any other suggestions......heck im thinkin my tax return might end up goin into my truck instead of a new saddle.....wonder if i can write off spacers n shocks as a business expense lol
I have never tried the Bilstein shocks but I hear they are very good. I have had Rancho 9000 and I miss them as I don't have them on the truck now. I went with the 4" lift kit from SkyJacker and am using their Nitto shocks. I really don't like the shocks as they are not long enough for proper suspension. Plan on fixing that this summer as I can deal with it through the cold winter and plowing for now. I might try the Bilsteins this summer as long as they have some long enough, need to measure first.
Good luck, welcome to the site and I am sure you will enjoy working on your truck as most of use do.

Thanks for the welcome and your input nutty...if go with the bilsteins and do this before you change out shocks I will let you know what i think of them. And I already love working on my truck. Just between this site and DTE I am getting the itch to mod bad <Dr. Evil don't take that outta context..thats not the type of itchin im talking about> lol

I don't think the same trick will work twice.....that's how I ended up getting married in the first place. Besides, Tucson is too far to drive to bat eyes at some other gal when I can stay home and flirt with my wife. She bucks hay and takes a dip o' snuff now and again, so I plan on holdin' on to her for a long while
Heather, I think you'll like the ride quality of the Bilsteins a lot better than the Rancho's. You can get a set of 4 for less than $300. Lots of folks are running the Skyjacker D25 coils, but the spring rate on the D25's is a little higher than stock so the ride will be a little rougher.
This place http://customsuspension.com/store/pr...roducts_id=753 has replacement coils for cheaper than spacers. I've heard the do excellent work, but I don't know what the spring rate is on their coils. You could call and ask them, you want a coil with a 400lbs per inch rate or less. 400 lbs. per inch is the stock spring rate, anything less than that will ride softer. My coils are ~360lbs per inch, and they ride pretty nice. Pair these with the Bilsteins and you'll be Cadillac'in.....
lol cowhand....i dont dip anymore <did in high school> n i can buck hay with the best of em..seeing how i have no man around to do it every two weeks when i pick up a ton n half theres no one but me..takes me bout 15 mins to unload and stack it in the barn..let alone i can out rope alotta guys and can buck out a horse and also train em to a T like theres no tomorrow..but thats neither here no there lol
As far as the truck goes i have been looking around at prices and shocks and the bilsteins are nice but what series would i run on her with the 2" spacer..also i was reading another thread on leveling on here and someone was stating that the polyurethane become squishy over time. Is that true? and also what would that time frame be? If it is true are there any other good brands that are not polyurethane to go with?...I am purdy sure that I will not go with coils only because I well eventually lift her and make her into a play truck..so i dont want to be replacing them again down the road...but then again the D25 skyjacker coils run about the same as the DayStar 2" spacers.....so many decisions lol..it might just come down to the spacers giving a better ride than the coils....on another note you guys should be proud..because as of two days ago if you would have asked me what a spacer was..i woulda said heck if i know lol....i knew what coils were..i know some..but i still have alot to learn...oh one more thing...what are torsion keys?..a guy over at DTE just put some on his truck and I ask someone else what they were n they said they had no clue...Just wondering..n dont worry..ill have pleanty more stupid questions to ask lol
