Which lift kit?

Well, seeing some lift kits threads made me go ahead and ask the question. Which lift kit/brand is the best? Just wondering about pros/cons of either brand. Is there one that just stands above all? Im looking at getting the 4.5"/5" lift kit. Also, am i correct in thinking that i can run 36's w/o rub w/a 5" kit? Maybe bigger?

You are limited on choices once you get in the 4.5-5" lift range. Its pretty much either Skyjacker or Superlift. It has been a little while since I did the research on this, but if I remember right Superlift advertises a 5" lift gain while Skyjacker claims 4.5". I went with Skyjacker due to the way they go about getting the lift. Superlift uses front coil spring spacers while Skyjacker uses new taller springs to achieve the lift. I just didnt like the spacer approach. However the good thing about using spacers rather than the new springs is you will retain your factory ride. My 4.5" lift clears the 35" BFG with room to spare. I am pretty sure I can put 36" tires on with no issues as well.

Check my truck 5'' skyjacker with 35's plenty of room. Dont put in lift blocks, always a bad idea. Keep to the name brand stuff.

I'm running the 4.5" skyjacker and I like it. It's a little rough riding but it gets the job done. I strongly suggest ditching their track bar bracket and getting an aftermarket track bar such as the DT or thuren's. I've taken mine out on a few trails and let the suspension flex itself and it does very nicely. I'm running 315/75/16 tires on a 16x10 rim with 4.5" of backspacing and I have absolutely zero rub under any conditions.

i had 36x12.5 super swamper radials and they never rubbed they were on 16x10 wheels. if you go any wider on the wheels or tires they will rub. i didn't really lik the look of the 36's they looked too narrow i wish i would have went with 35x14.5 on a 12in wheel

Superlift also makes a 5" coil spring kit. That is what I have on mine. It kinda rides like crap ( or did ) but heck it's a dodge, they were never known for riding smooth. I have never flexed it so I can't comment on how well it achieves that, but it's an ok kit for the most part. However I might suggest if you do get it, look into getting a long arm kit instead of the short stubby radius arms the kit comes with. That long arm kit smooths out the ride so much better........................just to bad I don't have mine on yet

I installed a fab-tech kit on my buddies third gen and was less than impressed. The shocks that came with the kit only had an inch of up travel in them before they maxed out, it was a 5" kit but only lifted it maybe 4". His didn't come with the blocks for the rear end nor the u-bolts for them. Not to mention the directions were a whopping 2 pages long with like 2 pictures and that's it. Maybe their 2wd kits are better but I wasn't impressed at all with his.

I believe Fabtech is a 5.5" lift if I remember correctly. There was a girl down at the Rocky Mountain Truck fest last year that I ran against that had that setup on her truck..........sat about the same as mine though and I had a 5" at the time.........

But on a side note, I wasn't really paying attention to the truck.........CUZ DANG SHE WAS HOT!!!!!! Boy oh boy was she smokin.......
