turbo thom, Bilsteins are guaranteed for life. Ship the shock back to Bilstein, and they will replace them for free plus shipping. Not sure what you do while you're waitong for the replacments though.

Just ordered the KYB Monomax's from TireRack, best price I could find. Will let you know once they are installed. 2000 2500 QC LB 4X4, only mod is 180 degree T-Stat, mileage improved 1.3mpg.

Might try Timbrens up front. Won't lift per se', but should take care of any sagging. Easy install.

fishbait, if you go with bilstein make sure you get the shocks rated for 8800lbs. bilstein makes two diffrent sets for our trucks.

With the D25 Springs up front and mabye an inch lift in the rear would it make it pretty level and would I have to get longer shocks? Would I have to change anything else?

Bottom line is they wanted me to by 4 more shocks. Take the four I take off, send them back to Bilstien. If they find them faulty, they will replace with 4 more. If not, I just bought 4 new shocks. So I could end up with 8 shocks. Warranty for life. Maybe, but not with out coming out of your pocket. Rickson was no more help either. They were caught in the middle. Bilstien pulls the strings and we get yanked. No more yellow and blue shocks on my trucks. Ranchos next. Goes better with air ride.

4 KYB Monomax shocks installed. Ride is much improved, they soak up the potholes and bumps nicely. It is a much firmer ride with some degree of front to back movement on uneven concrete, although less than the stock shocks(112,000mi on stock front end).
Along with the shocks, the track bar and ball joints were replaced, like a new truck now! Question is how much difference would a DSS (Darin Steering Stabilizer, bracket) make at this point?
Tech mentioned that the steering box had "acceptable" play based on mileage. It is so much better now.

How are them Ranchos? I was originally looking at Bilsteins when I replace my shocks. But that adjustability kind of got me interested in them Ranchos. I am not going offroad at all now, but I might be in the future, what do you guys recommend?>

I used the adjustability more for on road use than off road. I cranked up the firmness for highway and softened them up for bumpy back roads. I liked them alot. Of course, they were on a 3.5k lb Jeep. But they too are lifetime warranty. If you buy them local, you can take them in and exchange. Don't have to wait for shipping. That's one benefit of buying local. Napa can get them.

Rancho's are your basic non-gas charged, twin tube shock.. Nothing special, and I would never run them again, on or off-road. They are old technology, fade quickly, and don't control the axle very well.

Anyone who swears by them has never experienced the control a good high pressure, monotube gas shock like a Bilstein, Monomax, etc. can offer.

I'm changing the Doetsch tech's (same as Rancho's) on my rock-rig to Bilsteins soon. I thought softer was better offroad. better axle control helps MUCH more than having a soft shock.

Not trying to start a war, but I've learned the hard way. for $10 more a shock, you can have MUCH higher quality... It's a no-brainer to me...

From what I have heard, the adjustability is nice, but I dont think I will need it, I am going with the Bilsteins. Now does anybody know the right Bilsteins for my truck for when I put the Skyjacker D25s and a 1inch add-a-leaf in the rear?
