Talking Just want to know

How come all the Diesel manufacturers have the
vendors go with the minimum set price ? There is
no price competition between vendors. All prices
are the same ! Can you imagine if Kraft told all the
grocery stores that they have to sell the end
product at the same minimum price ? No matter where you
shopped for groceries all the prices were the same

It is good business for the manufactor but not for the consumer. it keeps the price wars from taking place and all the vendors have a chance to stay in business since you can go any where to get your product. Now we as the consumers will pick and choose where to buy stuff not for price but for customer care....

Like buying a Smary from the site they will quote you the price everyone sells it for but will give you free shipping.

I know it's not good for us diesel fans. Believe me I know
about OEM pricing. I sell Hydraulic equipment to end users.
The Manufacturers sell to all the vendors at a set price
and we are allowed to sell at whatever we want. You can
sell at a low margin and high volume or high margin and low
volume. It's up to the disdributor. It should be the same
way in the Diesel Performance world Don't
get me wrong I've already spent a large sum of money
on upgrades. Just want to get the best deals on future
upgrades

Not all manufacturers require a MSRP contract. You can still get good pricing on most stuff.

I know this is an unpopular subject with the
online vendors and manufacturers, so this
subject will probably die like the last one

I have never been a good person to "jew" someone down on a selling price. I figure if that is the price, then that is what I will pay if I want it. That dont mean I will not look somewhere else for a better price.

By the way , I've spent over $3000 on upgrades
from various vendors on this site , so I know what
I'm talking about. I'm also very happy with the
actual products. Just unhappy with the non-capitalistic
way of selling things .

I don't blame the vendors. It's the manufacturers
that control the final price

I don't see the problem , you get the product at the lowest price possible , and you can buy it from your favourite vendor without wondering if it is cheaper somewhere else. It lets you choose the best location/customerservice/etc , without worrying about paying too much.

Most of what I see is MAP pricing, this is used to prevent price wars among vendors. If you call the vendor and ask for his best price he will usually be 10-15% below MAP, at least that is what I've found. If you give repeat business to the same vendor when possible you'll have more buying power, because they depend on their repeat customers and want to keep them coming back.

I agree. I think vendors will lower the prices for people who are return customers.

Remember that its the minimum advertised price there is nothing keeping a vendor from selling for less. He can sell at a loss if they would like. It keeps people from calling all over just for a part as opposed to going for price and service. I know all about this as i always try to support my local fish stores when it comes to my aquariums and not the big guys since the small stores usualy have a better staff that is dedicated to keeping the customer coming back. I just hate seeing people come into small shops and getting all the info from the owners or staff then going to to local chain pet shops or ordering online. If you have the knowledge base at a dolar more why not support your knowledge base also.
