I know, I know! Just Guess! Please

Ok this question has been beat into the ground But it is almost impossible for me to get this truck on a dyno anytime soon. So like others before me, what approx. do you guys think I'm putting to the ground as far as HP/TQ. I'm hoping to make a few changes in the near future by putting some Mach 4.5's and hopefully the new Quad Race box, but it would be nice to have a ball park figure to go off of when I do get it on a dyno.

Thanks fellas it's really appreciated,

Chris

3.5hp

I think that's the power rating of the starter, since when your engine melts from the high EGTs and goofy fueling stack, all you'll have is starter power

I have no idea where you're at now. But if you ditch the electronics you now have to go with Quad's latest and the big sticks, I think you'll be comfortably over 500hp/1000tq, which is very respectable for an HO pumped truck.

I appreciate all of your imput, I was kinda hoping and thinking I was around the low 400's I'm confused though why at roughly 425hp the torque is only around 700 yet when you get to 500 it jumps to around 1000?? Is that because of the way the power is distributed or what? So the bigger sticks and a better programmer will be enough to get me over the 500 mark? That would be ideal!!

I surely hope that things don't melt down because 3.5hp will be real tough to do much with

Thanks guys.

It depends on where you're making your peak HP and peak tq.

When I dynoed 390hp, the tq reading was 918lb/ft (overcorrected no doubt, but still).

What you can tell from this is that I had huge tq number relative to the power, meaning I have low-rpm biased powerband.

I'm running the stock turbo, so this makes sense.

But if I swapped to a 66mm turbo, for instance, I'd have much less tq on the low rpm range, and the ratio of tq to hp will be lower.

With twins or a small turbo, you can often see tq peaks more than double the hp: for example, 918 is way more than double 390 (on my fishy dyno sheet). But a big single might dyno 600hp with only 1100lb-ft, a multiple less than 2:1.

This is because of the larger turbos powerband being shifted to higher rpm where you'll have a lower multiple of tq/hp.

Makes real sense thanks Hohn. I hope to get this truck on the dyno this spring, just to see where it's at. We'll see if I break the 500hp mark I know alot of guys have been hovering right around there but can't seem to break it with virtually the same set up as I have.

On our last dyno, I did 453 with 912 ft.lbs. There were two trucks that were in the 500-540 range that had torque in the mid to high 800's. Ironically, they were both running twins, and I just have my single.

The shop had the pickups on the dampers up front, so assuming the power numbers are accurate, the torque will be as well.

Wow I asked this question and could not get anyone to respond at all?? What do think Hohn? I'll be adding a set of 435's soon along with the Mack Rack plug for a little more fuel!

I'd think you'd be in the 425 hp range with your current sticks.

A quick spooling turbo will make the most torque. A slower spooling turbo will typically make more hp up top, but less torque overall.
